Things I did (& didn't do) to be the first person to reach Level 8 ⤵️
What I DID do to become the first person in here to reach Level 8 (WIZARD)👇
1️⃣ Genuinely enjoyed meeting and getting to know new people (aka making friends)
2️⃣ Share things about my own Skool journey
3️⃣ Be supportive and helpful to others

😂 I feel like the Skool Grandma in my chair saying "the youth of today, they don't write posts like they used to back in my day, it's all about the points now" 😂

ya know I hate that we have to even say it because I know we thrive in a positive space and we don’t want negativity but it’s clearly wearing on us. Maybe not “us”. I don’t want to speak for everyone. But it’s annoying honestly. To me.

there are a few of us feeling that vibe and posting about it lately

Love this, Jade! Completely agree. I think if you can actually bring value to the table, then you don't have to post anything pointless.

great take and you’re worthy of making it! Platform evolution happening in real time and we’re in the thick of it. What are you’re thoughts on algorithms or how from a systems level things could potentially change?

I want to hear s thoughts too!

I do think like anything else, play short term games, win short term prizes. The real benefit of playing any game the right way is you get the right benefits.

When I first started I was so confused. With everyone talking about “value posts” “provide value”. I didn’t feel like I was good enough or had anything valuable to say. So for me I knew I wanted to go to hq to change my environment be around people that see life differently. Damn sure didn’t think I was gonna make enough to get the top 10 in the Skool games. I had already spent way more money than I actually have. I needed to do something I HATE my job I sleep on my moms couch. To me level 7 was the way out. I have big big dreams and a lot of people I want to help but all i had was jokes and an excuse to make people laugh I figured the businessy posts would come but for now build the habit. Throw a bunch of shit at the wall find out what works and what doesn’t. But you have to do the volume to find the difference. It sucks for the OGs cause it’s obvious you’ve done it thousands of times. But some of us are broke no support, no idea what we are doing. Just making our best bet. I’m sorry if I was a burden.
5
• Aug '24
hey there, I've never seen your post and certainly don't think anyone is a burden.
I see you have your own group so if you need support the Skool Games group is packed full of things to help you my friend 🙌

Great post

• Aug '24
This surprised me as well. My guess is skool is being cautious with any actions that would discourage engagement. They can remove no value posts and all points connected to it, but it is not a priority until it deteriorates the feed more.
I wonder if they can add MRR indicators as part of the bubble color -- that one would be better indicator of authority the community should listen to.
4
• Aug '24
great idea, but not everyone's authority will be connected to their eg (ag a growth operator of a group would have zero MMR, or a ADHD expert
with no Skool group yet
same for people who don't use Skool payments).
I like your thinking though 🤌

But I guess it'll hurt beginners more!

Great to see you write that... my starting strategy, too — but in a gamified world, very easy to feel like it's all about the points. Trying to stay focused. 😅

I think those first three things go hand-in-hand. Being other-centered and being truly interested in those around us is both more fun and also more attractive for others to join our own community.

I wish I could give advice but I'm just starting out. Maybe I can help if others can relate to my question. Here goes nothing. If I want to give someone an affiliate link to invite people to my group can I do that through Skool or do I have to set that up separately? And if so, how?
Send help! 😭

• Sep '24
the affiliate is to start their own Skool group, not join yours.

Congrats on hitting Level 8, that's awesome! 🎉 Love how you focused on genuine connection and sharing your journey—that's what makes this community so powerful. It’s clear that being supportive and helpful goes a long way here. I’m also looking to connect with realtors, content creators, and people in the architecture, construction, and property investment space to collaborate on some exciting projects. Thanks for the inspiration, and here's to more meaningful interactions! 🚀 What’s your next goal after reaching wizard status?

This is my first month in Skool. I have been putting a print on demand Etsy shop together, trying to ramp up before really starting to push my Community and now, though it is still pretty small, I am ready to start making some waves.
My Community will likely focus on getting started, both in print on demand, as well as Skool.
I came across your post while poking around. This is great advice. As I try to progress and carve out my place in here, it is important to remember to stay relevant while avoiding pointlessness.
I appreciate the advice! Thank you for putting it out there!
Cheers!

How do you differentiate between a post "Just for points" vs an actual post meant to help others or yourself?
2
• Oct '24
over 10 years of experience in running communities and also intuition.
People who do it have a social veneer that is oh so shiny, supportive and friendly which to the untrained eye looks like the best community member, but to those who know - they have a shifty vibe you can sense a mile off.
The Skool founder (Sam) has been in this game many years, as have his team so I am sure they will be keeping a close eye on any they see shenanigans ;)

What constitutes a pointless post for points? I'm not sure what you're referring to?
1
• Aug '24
these tend to be random post that are usually questions or "this or that" type polls, or random/silly posts that are done purely with the intention to just get points/comments.
3
• Aug '24
I agree with this. At first I was thinking that some of these posts are pointless posts.
But you added a phrase in this comment. With the intention of - that intention really does matter.
So, making a "pointless" post just to have a laugh or a good time or even just to get to know people - if the Intention is there then woot woot.

Well I'm new here so I'm just going to say I like your did's.... but.... after all you are the first to make it to level 8... isn't there a few more didn't do's that I should know that could be more beneficial to my road to success than.. "Make pointless posts for points"...
I'm just putting the elephant i spotted in the room out there, cause I didn't see anyone else talking about it ... I could be talking out of pure noobness and possibly completely off my rocker when I make this statement ... forgive me if that's the case ...but for me the value is in the pudding ... and this pudding seams a bit bland like it's missing some key ingredients...although I do like your did's....
