How do you explain skool?
I get asked a lot “what’s skool” and I feel like I answer it different every time.
Always explaining different things like “it’s kind of like a Facebook group but you get paid”.
So I’m curious;
How do you explain skool?

When I think of Skool as a whole platform, I think of a Mastermind conglomerate all in one place. What do you want to know or do? Go find it, someone on Skool has your back.

• Nov '24
Are you explaining to a potential member or a potential community owner? Answers might be similar in some respects, but not the same. I can see having a really clear answer for both would be valuable.

You take a photo and instantaneously put it out on the line and share it with friends.
Like Exchangeagram.

Imagine a membership and a social media account getting a child. That's Skool.
And don't forget, kids are very engaged

Skool.com is what happens when Reddit's community magic and Kajabi's course tools have a late-night encounter with Discord's energy - and somehow their love child outsmarts all of them.

It’s a platform that allows like minded people to gather and learn from the experts in just about every imaginable arena. In my case my paid people pay for access to my courses so they know before they join what they are expecting. What I focus on is giving them more bang for the buck so they don’t run away. That said, I’m still learning from all the trailblazers before me on how to better optimize and deliver my service. I never compare it to Facebook, because it doesn’t compare.

Functionality-wise, it’s like Teachable and Facebook groups put together.
Unlike teachable, you don’t have separate accounts for each teacher/subject. Unlike Facebook, it’s not ugly.
I also think it promotes more personal contact via the calendar. For example, I have open office hours three times a week (and I’ve never met a teacher in teachable).
How I explain it depends who I’m talking to. And in most cases, I think it’s better not to explain it at all.

It is a simple to use educational platform based around community. Gamification encourages engagement where everyone supports each other’s growth within the community.

I'd consider Skool a learning based social media.
You come here to learn new things and potentially make new skills out of the things you learn.
Honestly an insanely valuable Social media that I believe will rival all others given a few years as it has just started.

I like how you distinguished between learning and gaining new skills.

Someone asked me: How would you tell your grandma about Skool?
Grandma, can you imagine baking a cake and someone thanking you for every step you take... for buying all the ingredients, softening the butter, beating the eggs, dissolving the sugar, turning on the oven, peeling the apples, adding the cream, greasing the baking pan... thank you, every activity is seen! 🙏🏻✨🌸

It's what Facebook was supposed to be and then failed. LOL JK
It's a community platform with courses and calendar all in one. It's the place where I have found motivated, focused, driven people who have become friends because we all help each other to grow and to come up. It truly is community over competition. I have found my tribe!!

A all in one online platform for people to get connected in a community like Facebook groups (with Messenger dms) and also has a Classroom section for people to learn recorded lessons from the community creator. The UI is completely different from any other platform which makes everything needed to run an online course much better for both the creator and consumer

Skool is a platform in the midst of an innovation phase that, in a very simple way, facilitates the creation of sustainable communities over time that foster human connection through growth and support.
It is not just a hobby, it is not just a business, it is not just about developing relationships of trust... it is the exact point of intersection of all of them.

I’m so glad you posted this question, I feel like I’m actually getting the grasp of this platform and how it works!
1
• Nov '24
This is tricky! And I posed a question about content for Skool as how do we explain Skool to others at a more specific level?
Is it like social media... yes
Is is a learning platform .....yes
Free .... yes
Paid ..... yes
I find when I talk to people IRL about Skool, they don't seem to understand. They don't see the potential, or they just don't seem interested.
How can we help change these conversations?
