I listened to it right away, great talk, great questions ! Thanks for doing the podcast
Which fruits do you enjoy in the autumn time?
I can’t wait for persimmon season, just the thought makes my mouth water😆 I live in the UK, so grapes and bananas are always a staple year round. How about you, what are your go to fruits this time of year?

The last melons of the summer, the first chirimoyas, and the mangos from spain ! Of course on the side grapes (red globe from Italy :D) and bananas are always there. I recently got my hands on bananas from canary islands, and the very satisfying.

@Ela Harrison the treatment is not chemical. It’s actually « gased » with 100% CO2 atmosphere and it kicks out astringency. The issue is that the fruit is edible but highly unripe ! Hence the digestive issues you might have. You coule met them to the point when they soften but they might as well go bad, as they’ ve been harvested too early. I’d say always avoid the rock hard persimons in the store
Apples
Do apples have a significant place in your 811 regimen ? Do you eat them often, especially in winter ? It did for me in the beginning of my transition, but I noticed for the last three years that I consume them less and less. To the point that today I cannot imagine making a mono meal of apple, as I find usually myself more hungry at the end of the meal than before, and they provoke almost always some kind of stomach ache. At best it is a little snack nowadays... It's far from being a sub-tropical/tropical fruit, maybe that's the reason ? I only go for good organic ones of course, as it's one of the worst spayed fruit. I've also noticed Doug doesn't mention it once in the week of eating examples of the 801010 book. What is your experience ?

@Lisa Stevens I've never eaten a waxed apple, it's actually very easy to see on the produce (it will be shiny and you can scratch it). If you buy them to a apple producer on the farmer market, organic or not it won't be waxed. Here in France a waxed apple in a store is a exception.

@Ela Harrison I'd like to try these one day ! Living for a while in Nomandie France (much alike UK wheather), I remember being disappointed by the apples even heirloom and picked ready. Soft apple felt un-alluring to me... However I'd like to taste the apples your describing :)

Apple juice & weight gain?
I wanted to ask: what 's your opinion on fresh pressed apple juice in the morning? I started doing that because of gallstones - not that they are bothering me - and you read everywhere that they soften & shrink the stones. And I so much want to get rid of them. I know the only juice that's advised is citrus, because of the fiber. As a side remark: I gained about 14 pounds since doing that, but I've also eaten cooked vegetables in that same period, which I never did before. I'm eating totally overt fat-free. Do I have to quit the apple juice? Not that I'm really fat now, but I was quite used to feeling slim and I want that back.

Well I'd say, cut the apple juice and the cooked vegetables, go back to the old way ? Apple juice will rise very fast your blood sugar, as there are no fibers. Your body will store it as he'll probably not use all the sugar for fuel at this moment. Eat all the greens you care for, but one head of cauliflower a day, that's a huge amount you would never eat raw... Eat cucumbers for the win ;).
