Obstacles are visible, stumbling blocks seem to appear out of nowhere
Thought that I had today as I was walking the dogs and stumbled on what appeared to be nothing or maybe a small shift in the pavement. It just happened, all of the sudden. I couldn't see it ahead of me. And I have walked this way a million times and never tripped. This got me thinking about our spiritual journey. Obstacles we can see ahead of us. Sometimes they are enemy created, sometimes we throw them into our own path. Sometimes they just are part of living in this beautiful but broken world. But we can always see them. We can feel them. They are tangible and clearly block our path. Stumbling blocks are those "surprise" tripping points. The ones that seem to raise up out of the path when we least expect it. They can make us stumble or even go sprawling. Because they take us by surprise and usually pop up right when we are starting to feel good or make progress or step into our power - we assume they are their to block us and we make them an obstacle. The whole mountain out of a mole hill idea. So maybe that thing you think is holding you back or slowing you down - isn't really an obstacle, it's just a stumbling block you weren't expecting and it has made you lose focus on your path and instead focus on this one small thing that is really very easy to step over. Just a random (possibly ramble) thought that came up today as I walked the dogs and am walking out my spiritual journey. It has stuck with me today so I felt called to share it.
