In a world that constantly tells us to push harder, reach higher, and always strive for more, it’s easy to forget the value of simply easing up on ourselves. When we find ourselves at a crossroads, unsure of our next move, or feeling overwhelmed, maybe the answer isn’t to push through the resistance, but to pause, breathe, and let things unfold naturally.
The Trap of Forcing Things
How often do we find ourselves caught up in the belief that every goal, every task, and every plan requires immense effort and force? This mindset can be a trap. When we constantly push ourselves, it can quickly turn into fear—fear that we won’t finish what we started, fear that the outcome won’t be perfect, or even fear that we’re not enough. This pressure, though well-intentioned, often blocks the very flow we need to make things happen with ease. I used to LIVE in this pressured space of scarcity.
Try a Different Approach
It took some coaching, but I learned to embrace a new way of being since my pressured way wasn’t really serving me. My advice is- Instead of pushing harder when you don’t know what to do, try easing up. Explore a different way of working—one that embraces love and gentleness. This could mean taking a break, stepping back, and simply letting things be. Relaxation doesn’t mean you’re giving up; it’s actually a way of making space for things to come together naturally.
What if you tried something entirely different when you’re stuck? Go for a walk, read a poem, breathe deeply, or light a candle. Sometimes the smallest shift in our surroundings or mindset can give us fresh energy and clarity. If fear or doubt starts creeping in, recognize it, feel it, and then let it go. You may find that, when you return to the task, you can approach it with a clearer, more open heart.
Let Things Unfold Naturally
There’s a beauty in letting things evolve at their own pace. When we stop forcing and allow things to flow, we often find ourselves in the right place at the right time, with everything coming together just as it should. This doesn’t mean that things will always be perfect, but they will feel more natural, right, and even joyful.
So, when you’re creating something—whether it’s a relationship, a new project, or even a simple daily task—try participating fully, yet with ease. Enjoy the process instead of just focusing on the outcome. Remember, joyfully creating is as valuable as reaching the finish line.
The Balance Between Effort and Ease
There are times to focus, to push hard, and to put all of your energy into something. But just as importantly, there are times to ease up. When we give ourselves permission to relax, we often find that we’re able to accomplish more than we thought possible.
By easing up, we invite laughter, play, and a sense of enjoyment into our lives. Tasks that once felt daunting become more manageable, and we often surprise ourselves with how much more we can get done when we let go of the need to control every little detail.
So today, consider taking a step back. Give yourself some space, some compassion, and let life flow. You may find that, in the process, you accomplish more than you ever could have by forcing it. And along the way, you might just discover the joy of simply being.
