Apple Watch ad - version 1 exercise
Alrighty, here we go with assignment one. I've done this before, on Kerry's last platform, and I am already much happier with this ad iteration - but it's not perfect. I didn't have LOADS of time to spend on this, but I jumped onto the Apple site and read some reviews of watches from local stores selling them. I made a note of the benefits that people were raving about: - I never miss emails or messages when I don’t have my phone - Easy set up - Fast  - Large screen - Good style and functionality - Thin - Comfortable I was playing around with an ad that highlights the comfort of the watch as there were a lot of people who put that in their review (something to keep thinking about) but I settled on the benefit of not missing any messages, notifications, etc. I am trying to play on the lack of FOMO with an Apple Watch. In my mind, this ad is a quoted review. Hurdle #1 is finding a review with this EXACT wording because I don't want to ruin credibility. But surely someone somewhere has a similarly worded review...right? All feedback is welcome! Let me know what you think: 5*: "I forgot I left my phone at home." - Steve Too vague? Unclear? Highlighting benefits enough? Let me know 👇

I love these - you could even take it a step further and/or create a more emotional connection with the watch itself. - I never miss emails or messages when I don’t have my phone: Paint a picture of being connecting to family and friends, never missing those "firsts" updates from grandkids, nieces, nephews, etc. The power of a group chat, spilling the tea with your best friend, etc. - Easy set up: Ready to GO when you are! - Fast: Can think faster than any overthinker you know, helps respond, inform, educate, connect you to who you need to be connected to and where you need to go - when you need it! - Large screen: See and know about, even while multitasking (folding the laundry, going for a run, waiting in line at Starbucks, etc.) - Good style and functionality: Your day --> to --> night look will be seamless. etc. etc.
Question from Hit Makers for Discussion...
So, I'm LOVING Derek Thompson's Hit Makers! I'm partial to Derek Thompson but that's besides the point. Such great stuff in the book, and another big thanks to @Kerry Morrison for making all this happen for us and being so generous. One question I'd love to hear from all of you on is related to something he writes in the book "To sell something familiar, make it surprising. To sell something surprising, make it familiar." Can we have some actual examples from YOUR work and just discuss/brainstorm ideas on how to do this. I absolutely love it and my brain will be happily marinating on this concept for awhile I think.

@Kerry Morrison I agree! This is one I have no idea why I waited so long to read!

@Kerry Morrison I think I've heard him talk about it on his podcast, and in a few other little circles, but you're right. Not talked about often enough. Do you have examples of familiar vs. surprise in your own copy!?
Tuesday
Hey guys, going to post some things today, starting to fill out the landing page content section, and I do have that coffee hour in the schedule. I know a few of us have talked about finding a more convenient time for those and to do some coworking. Should I leave this today and I can chat with anyone who needs has questions. Or should I wait again until we have more members and better times?

@Kerry Morrison Oops! I said INCREASE haha! I've put a lot of time and resources into my education over the past six years and I'm raising prices a tad and coming up with creative packages to offer people more of a full cohesive messaging experience!

@Kerry Morrison my exact goal is to work with at least 10 LESS clients and still make 10% MORE income :D
My first question... to social media or not to social media?
Question for @Kerry Morrison and others who may or may not use social media to build their copywriting business - how helpful do you think it's been? Is there something that's worked better for you than another, platform or strategy wise? I'd love to get off it all entirely, but I don't think that's wise... especially as some of my parallel competition is on it and going strong, and I build a lot of connections locally which social media seems to help with. Love hearing what others have done!
