This is one experiment I DO NOT want you to do…
Hey Everyone, I want to share something that’s happening to me right now that serves as a powerful reminder: When we’re sick, our bodies don’t behave the way we’d like. 😷 Last night, I was feeling pretty off—lots of coughing and just not myself (that post Thanksgiving cold that’s going around!). Sure enough, I checked my blood sugar, and there it was...spiked! Illness can throw our blood sugar completely out of whack, even if we’re doing everything “right.” This isn’t just about food; it’s about how our body reacts to stress, inflammation, and fighting off whatever’s making us sick. So, while we’re here experimenting and learning about how our bodies respond to different foods and activities, remember this: getting sick is an experiment I don’t want you to do! 😉 But if it happens, and it will sometimes, here’s how you can manage: What To Do When You’re Sick: 1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! 💧 Water is your best friend when you're sick. It helps with glucose balance and prevents dehydration. 2. Check your levels a little more. 📊 Your blood sugar might be higher than usual—don’t worry, just stay on top of it! 3. Stick to your meds and balanced meals. 🍽️ Even if you’re not feeling hungry, try small, balanced meals to keep your energy steady. 4. Rest up. 😴 Your body is working hard to heal, so give it the downtime it needs. The journey to better health is never a straight line, and sometimes we hit bumps like this. But remember, those bumps are just part of the path. I might not be feeling 100%, but I’m still here, learning from every moment. You’ve got this! Let’s keep supporting each other—health isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress. Dr. Tara

Zoom Meeting Recap: Sept. 18th
Hi everyone! Let’s dive into a quick recap of today's conversation on glucose monitoring and why it’s such a game changer for your health. Glucose monitors are an incredible tool to help you understand how your daily habits—like the food you eat and the way you move—impact your blood sugar and, ultimately, your energy, weight, and overall well-being. It’s all about gaining insight into your unique patterns. We also touched on managing diabetes naturally, focusing on diet and lifestyle shifts. Prioritizing self-care and making small adjustments can have a big impact. Whether you're aiming to boost your energy, shed a few pounds, support/prevent diabetes, or calm inflammation, tracking your glucose can help you take control. I personally use the Libra monitor, which syncs easily with apps like Freestyle, giving real-time insights right at your fingertips. *Download Freestyle Libre 2 app. Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) make tracking effortless. They log your levels throughout the day and even alert you to highs or lows, which is especially helpful overnight. We discussed which experiments we are keen to try first in order to note our body responses. From adding more fiber, to hydration/dehydration impacts, to adjusting meal timing, fasting vs. non fasting impact on the day, green juices can, etc; we are putting our body's to the test! We also talked about alcohol. It can trigger glucose crashes, so choosing smarter, low-sugar options can make a big difference in how you feel. And lastly, don’t forget the importance of resistance training, especially for those looking to strengthen bones and manage osteoporosis—it’s essential for long-term health. We touched on the benefit of vibration plates for bone density and dispelled some myths when it comes to "milk being the best calcium source" (Marketing!). Thanks for tuning in! Keep experimenting and stay curious. Glucose tracking is one of the most powerful tools to optimize your health and feel your best.

Will I be able to watch the call from today as I missed most of it?
Welcome and Introduce Yourself!
Let's get this Glucose Mastering party started with some introductions. Share a little bit about yourself, why you're in this program, and what you are hoping to learn. BONUS: add something unique and fun about you :) I'll go first... I'm Tara - Your Glucose Guide! I'm excited to biohack various foods and habits to understand more about my glucose/insulin optimization for "Higher Health", while also learning from the group and making this the most transformative experience for you. I have a 5 year old at home who is not allowed gold fish and oreo's, which is making her feel lunch left out with her school friends! We are navigating this challenge while not caving on the gold fish! Fun about me... I'm really into sailing right now. I crew on a boat in Pickering in Lake Ontario waters.. We race every Sunday. I wonder how sailing will impact my glucose monitor and my sleep quality! Your turn :)

Hi all. Sorry I could not chat while in the meeting. I will need to watch the replay as I missed lots. I am a busy mom of 2 kids (teen a preteen) and I work 2 jobs on top of all that. I am celiac and recently started perimenopause which is fine but all the other stuff that comes along with it is not fine. My biggest bone of contention is the outstanding amount of belly weight. I am on HRT which is helped with hot flashes but I am really hopefully tracking my glucose can help me understand my body better and help me navigate this change in my life I am excited for all of us and the knowledge we will gain
Day 2: Glucose Monitoring Program
Hi Everyone, as we begin our Glucose Monitoring Program, this first week is all about eating and moving as you normally do. We are creating more awareness for our baseline levels. How is your body responding to each meal you eat? What is your morning glucose level on rising? What does your nigh time curve look like? For me, I notice I can go low on blood sugar at various times while sleeping, and that I often wake up when my glucose is low... which then rises on waking, even without eating anything. What are you seeing so far with your readings? Comment below.

@Tara Campbell Should I have not started the questions on the app? I’m sitting at a particular question and waiting for an answer on how to answer it

I’m thinking I prob needed my monitors before I started the application. If that’s the case I can see if I can back it up or start over.
