Using traditional puzzles like crosswords
Someone gave me a nice bottle of whiskey but it's locked behind a bunch of puzzles. This was a lightbulb moment for me, because I see these patterns and I immediately recognize the mechanics.
Crossword, substitution cypher and trivia.
This has me thinking about how I could use a similar pattern when I want a TTRPG puzzle. Using patterns the players instinctively know just as well as their characters would instinctively know the kinds of puzzles in a dungeon.
And of course, theme it to match the game.
