Friday Thread
Whatup Fam! Fire sesh last night!!! I'm still working on getting everything together for those that were in attendance... stay tuned for that email within the next couple days! Just wanted to create a random thread for stuff not related to Video, Content Strategy, or rant about yall being The Most Legendary Group of Savage Entrepreneur's that's Ever Walked the Planet. --> Anyone riding this Crypto train right meow? --> Anyone using Discord vs Slack to manage a team? (or just in General...) --> Anyone super dialed on building automation systems with Make.com? --> Anyone want to get together in person for an epic Live Event in March?? Holla for a dolla. 🙃

Also wonder how much Trump's election as a president can influence the overall value of USD in the near future, as this alone makes some difference when converting to my relatively weak local currency ;)

@Ceebz Gerard True, it's rather about opportunity and growth I guess :) if I had invested only as much as $10 back in 2012 when that thing was really cheap, I'd be a millionaire now 🤣
Using AI in any cool ways?
Anyone here using AI in any cool ways in their day-to-day? Whether it's business or personal- curious to hear! A lot of you are at least somewhat familiar with my AI assistant I've been training, RICK, because he's helped answer a good handful of questions people have in here when I don't have time to get to them. It's been crazy to see the progression of "building" him since the summer, and what he's able to help with now. I nerd out hard about this stuff, so if you've got any interesting ways you've been using AI, I am 100% all ears. Anything like: - Idea generation - Organized note-taking / journaling / brain-dumping - Chatbot setups It's fascinating figuring out new ways to use this stuff to help us do what we do better and faster (without going TOO far down the rabbit hole lol). Doing any cool stuff?

I use it as my full-time copywriter and translator ;) Having some more time now, I'll soon have to train it like You guys suggested :)
$10k Onboarding Video
Just hopped off the weekly call and Dave reminded me to post my wins. Sometimes we can other goals set and we don't appreciate the WINS that we do get. This past week I delivered on a $10k onboarding video for a local government agency. One of my clients integrated video into a larger consulting package. It was day of interviews, a little bit of b-roll and we designed a few graphics. Final video was a little over 6 mins long.

Not only is this a win, but a really massive one! Congratulations! :)
Well...Outreach Works Guys
Who would have thought 😂 After attending the Community Calls and Workshop of last week, the common denominator of these was about how to get clients and create deals, and the first step, shocker, is to communicate with them! I took Ceebz advice about the video selfie message when reaching out to a warm lead, and I just sent two of them to two warm leads I met last week, and in under 20 minutes they BOTH responded and said that they would be eager to have a call next week to discuss how to move forward with me as their guy. I was super nervous at first, sending a video like that, but I just made it a conversational tone, as what was highly suggested, and it was super easy! One of my leads even sent a selfie video BACK to me, explaining how she was excited to do this work, and she wants me to be the one to do it. I sent one last night, I am yet to hear back, but a solid 2/3 is not a bad ratio as of yet haha! I am gonna start expanding my net more so to speak and approach more people! I'll keep you Savages in the loop 😎

Transition to a new niche
Hey all, I've been working at this for about nine months now, and was originally trying to niche down to companies that serve public safety agencies such as trainers and equipment providers. I have noticed that a lot of these companies just don't have the budget for marketing that I would like to work with. After several conversations with these types of companies, I have noticed that there is an expectation to create $500 videos. Even after discussions with them, and showing what they could potentially expect on ROI's for quality content, there just isn't the margin for them to spend a realistic amount of money on the content they want. With that said, I'm exploring options to transition niches. I have noticed that there are a lot of dental offices and chiropractors in my area which have very generic/bland content on their websites and social media pages. Who here has had experience working with these niches and what did you like as well as what challenges were you confronted with working with these niches?

@Ryan Tayler I'm glad that helped! I had exactly the same struggles with trying to niche down at once, and I'm only wise after the similar advice I got from Dave and Ceebz 😉

@Dave Lisowski what you said about the Dunning-Kruger Rollercoaster is really eye-opening. I could relate it to my entire "cinematography" career: some fast wins after I finally collected some formidable gear to work with, but little experience in actual shooting and lighting - which led to the wins drying out, I started to get kicked out by the regular videographers with similar or slightly better skillset and on-set experience. This brought a MASSIVE dip in confidence and the easiest way seemed to be to give it a break and focus on something else again, like animations, websites, etc. The harder way which I luckily chose was to start training harder, invest in learning the skillset better, and right now I'm more confident in my video skills without even having constant gigs in it, than I was back then, when the agency clients temporarily gave me more jobs in the field. Of course the big wins are still ahead, but I can already see the difference in clients' feedback after the rare gigs I had this year, like that one good agency gig I had for that college ads - I could genuinely see they were damn happy with the result, and now I'm quite confident I only lack a good lead generation system to make it bigger, while previously I was afraid that maybe I just suck in the field 🤣
