The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Director of Operations with excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously. Our small office will require the candidate to manage the day-to-day, non-client facing operations of the practice. This position will require experience in the operations and IT management, accounting, human resources, and investment administration. Taking ownership of these operations roles is critical to the success of this employee. You will work collaboratively with the operations staff and are responsible for establishing or contributing ideas for department processes, procedures, and protocols. You MUST have meaningful experience in RIA operations with a fee-only RIA firm. The position is part- or full-time and while we would give preference to someone who will relocate to the Black Hills area of South Dakota, we would consider a virtual employee.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining company accounting records
- Providing clients with accurate and timely accounting and financial support
- Making routine SEC audits easy, efficient, and non-eventful
- Researching, administering, and maintaining company benefit plans
- Getting financial processes under control and keeping them there.
- Making software conversions seamless
- Procuring great software to make the functioning of team members’ roles optimal
- Streamlining company operations for efficiency
- Understanding everything about our trading and rebalancing software
- Assuring new team members are successfully onboarded
- Keeping document storage easy, efficient
- Keeping client assets held outside of our primary custodians in balance and with the best managers.
- Manage / integrate / operate Trading, IT, Operations and Client Support functions, computer systems, VOIP systems and various cloud-based tech.
- Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures
- Work with our IT vendor to ensure security of data, network access and backup systems

- Orion (especially "Eclipse")
- eMoney
- NetDocs
- Custodian – Charles Schwab
- Quickbooks
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management.
- Minimum of five years of experience in office operations or business management in a small business with a high preference for experience in fee-only financial planning practice.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet applications, data manipulation, database applications
- Above average communication and people relationships skills, both in writing and person to person
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, advanced skills with Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
- Drawn to Holacracy, a non-hierarchal organizational operating system
- Embraces Non-Violent Communication, GTD (Getting Things Done) system, and self-development
