Yesterday it was my true joy to guest on Victoria Moran's podcast.
It is not live yet, however I will let you know when it is, as it's perhaps my favourite ever interview as the guest. For context, I'm averaging almost one guest interview a week this year.
π Victoria truly is a beautiful soul and I want to share a great question she asked me.
The context was the state of the world - the hate, the conflict, the unnecessary cruelty and injustice... Victoria asked: Can you ever be at Peace with the state of the world right now?
π© My answer? NO, absolutely not! However, I can be at peace with the person I am Being in the world.
Also, I am just as driven as ever to create the kind, compassion, healthy, happy, vegan world I am seeking AND I have hope we can get there. I must have hope. π
Here are some of the things I am prioritising right now to BE the person I can be at peace with. More than that... to strive to be the person that makes me proud:
β
Live a life aligned with my values: Freedom, Integrity and Compassion. This starts with veganism for me, however it extends to so much more.
β
Be generous with my energy. Put another way, leave a person better for the time they spent with me. Gotta say it - be that "bright spark of happy", my dear mum always was. Note to self here: MAKE TIME. You cannot be generous with your energy when you are always rushing and trying to maximise your efficiency!
β
Realistic expectations for loved ones. Hell, honestly, let's call this Lower Expectations for loved ones and higher expectations for myself. Meet people where they are. Without judgement. It's hard I know. I'm trying to lead with more curiosity as it's just more effective... and more enjoyable. Which leads me to...
β
Focus on what's effective rather than what is right. I genuinely believe NOT exploiting animals is RIGHT. Yet also, leading with hard to hear truth bombs is not always effective.
I write this to share my intention and to hold myself more acceptable to get better. Knowing and Doing are not the same and you can bet I don't get this right all the time!
π Love to know your thoughts and especially your strategies for BEING the person you can be at peace with?
π§ P.S. After some uplifting weekend listening?
There are actionable self-care takeaways and, I might be obsessed with cows now! Highly recommend!
