It's almost that time
@Kate Galli I just wanted to say a big thank you on the eve of day 30 of the plant positive jumpstart. I've found this to be a very powerful and enjoyable experience. It's not often you get to be a place where you feel safe and loved and surrounded by others that feel the same as you do about life, food, and health. It's been a pleasure to spend the time in the company of you and others and this seeing this post in my inbox every morning means I actually have an email I look forward to. Thank you and love and positivity to everything you do. ❤️

✅ Welcome to DAY TWENTY-EIGHT of the Plant Positive Jumpstart! ✅
Our Theme, #MondayMotivation, Today is the perfect day for this post because after a lovely 3 day weekend spent with a dear friend visiting from interstate I woke up early, ready to power into my day AND.... well, my Mojo seemed to be MIA! Here's how I got through: "Past Kate" had thankfully laid the groundwork for a productive day by planning my day to come the night before. With a list of tasks by order of priority with time allotted to each. "Present Kate" relied on these 3 strategies to get going: 1. I set my iPhone timer for 45 minutes and just made a start. Gradually working through the tasks and I will admit - I started with the easiest ones - and did bump a couple of important not urgent tasks to tomorrow. They'll get done. 2. I meditated and trained because I know they are non-negotiable to keep me calm and healthy. 3. When I started to fade around 2pm I went for a brief, calming, gratitude inducing walk in nature. As it got a little struggle-street I thought of "Future Kate" and these 3 points: 1. What will Make Me Proud when I crawl into bed tonight? 2. The Law of Recency, which states the action you most recently took is the one you are more likely to take again. So, if I want to be effective and efficient tomorrow I need to do the best I can today. 3. The Anti-Mentor, who is that person I really don't want to be - with the results I really don't want? Love to know your best strategies when you have a low mojo day?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but I give myself permission to not feel bad about having a low mojo day. It's when I get to the end of the day and berate myself for not having achieved 'anything' that I feel bad, knowing what day it is and taking the time to go for a long walk, to read a book and lose myself and realise that making the most out of every day isn't about every day being super-productive in the work, work, work sense of the word.

Our Theme, #FridayFAQ, How Do You Stay Motivated To Eat Healthy Plant Based Meals? If eating plant-based is something you (or someone you love!) is struggling to persevere with, this 2-part blog / podcast is for you! It's actually from my second podcast (Plant Positive) that was only around for one season and yet remains evergreen and actionable! 10 Tips To Stay Motivated To Eat Healthy Plant Based Meals (Part 1) and (Part 2) Tip ONE: Focus on little hinges that swing big doors. Like, finding that Go2 vegan burger, marinated tofu / tempeh or falafel (to buy or make) that you love and is super versatile to turn into a quick Buddha bowl, salad or wrap. OR, getting into the habit of making extra dinner to take as leftovers for lunch the next day. OR, buying a salad / pre-washed greens and / or grains mix that only needs some plant protein and good fat added for an easy meal. What are your most impactful little hinges?

If I don't have hummus in the fridge, or at least chickpeas and tahini to make it with I start to stress! Having tofu as a grocery staple is so important `as well, I have gone to fridge before and thought I had tofu behind something else and had to keep looking in disbelief when there's none there! I find planning the meals for the week and knowing I have enough in for a meal regardless of whether it's super exciting it important.

Our Theme, #ThursdayTraining, I can be a consistency queen to my detriment. If YOU can relate, it's vital for both of us to regularly take the time to check in and confirm we are spending our time, energy and CONSISTENCY wisely. Because, being patient is ONLY a strategy for success when you are taking the RIGHT actions. How to know the right actions? That's tougher! I look at, A) Am I seeing results? B) Are these actions that the person with the results I'm seeking prioritises? C) Does this feel like it could become a sustainable and joyful part of my life? Beyond setting a specific and compelling goal, here are 3 Keys to help you get and stay consistent with your exercise: - Lock and load set training days and times. This means you get to avoid any exhausting “will I, won’t I” self negotiation.   - Ensure your training is not dependent on circumstances beyond your control, like the weather or a training buddy. Or, if it is, sort your alternatives – before you need them! - Choose a form of training that you enjoy or at the very least could learn to enjoy. My caveat is that initially you might not enjoy it, because initially you might not be good at it. You can think of something you would like to be good at though.  Or at the very least, something you would like the results for being good at.   Have you ever done consistency to your detriment? Put another way, stuck with something well after it stopped being a valuable use of your time? Apologies... I got lazy with my picture picking however this is an old fav of mine... I think I'm dreaming of bread!

Firstly you look incredible and the best advert for what you do. Secondly, my 'training' today was a fast walk for an hour, and I have another scheduled for later in the day. I'm working on strengthening my fingers and hands because annoyingly I dislocated some fingers recently and it hurts to grip anything so need to get that up and running and I'll be all good.

Our Theme, #MondayMotivation. Almost 14 years ago when I escaped what I not so affectionately call "The Business from Hell" I came away with both an understanding that knowing what you DON'T want is just a valuable as getting clarity on what you DO want. PLUS, I had built - over roughly 30 months of money-haemorrhaging, drama-filled, sleep-deprived extreme UN-fun - a formidable certainty of self and ability to Back Myself, that I rely on to this day. Back Yourself 100% is my number one hard learnt lesson that I would share with debilitatingly shy teenager Kate (if she'd listen) and it relates to every aspect of your life. From Business to your Body to any unhelpful Beliefs you want to upgrade. If you have not yet experienced the sort of situation that forces you into a sink or swim attitude of self certainty then you can more calmly and enjoyably build an ability to Back Yourself with any of all of these actions: ✅ 1. Jot down (and consciously focus on) 3 reference points for success or things you did well each day. ✅ 2. Recall in as much detail and with as much emotional intensity that thing or that time, you did step up or learn a new skill or achieve something that had once seemed impossible or at the least, very challenging. ✅ 3. Decide now on something that stretches you and commit to take the steps to achieve it. You can consciously build your belief in yourself by one step at a time coming through for you and DOING what you say you are going to do. You can start this process TODAY by deciding on the next step even if you don't know ALL the steps. Odds on, with most things of value, you won't know all the steps before you start and even if you think you do, it's almost certain, they will change and you will need to adapt! Curious to know, do YOU have a most valuable lesson you would share with your younger self?

It's a really interesting question and for sure there is so much I wish I'd known as an 18 year old but then wonder how my life would have turned out differently if I'd known those things then instead of much later in life. Would I be the person I am today, was my destination always going to be the same and it's just the journey that differs or would my destination be something different altogether? Along similar lines, my daughter is 17 and turns 18 in six months or so and I've just started writing her a letter to open on her birthday about some of the things that I wish I'd known at that age and what life has been like since turning 18 for me. One of the key things I want her to embrace is the concept of time. Time means so many different things depending on context, a millisecond can be the difference between gold and silver medals, a day can feel like forever, a year can pass by in the blink of an eye. I see so many people missing out on so many opportunities because of time, the fear of being away from a partner for a week, the feeling of missing out by working overseas for a year, all of those things pass so quickly and the opportunities often don't come around again. I'd say time as a flexible constant is the one oxymoron we don't truly comprehend, it rules our lives and a deeper appreciation for what time actually is would serve us all.
