What platforms do I choose?
So, after yesterday's great community Q&A, I was feeling a little overwhelmed. Even though I have run a music and writing business online for a long time, it was all pretty amateur stuff for me. As musicians, we are not taught or told how to do all this stuff. I think musicians could definitely benefit from this kind of marketing knowledge although that is not where my passion lies. Anyway, I am pretty much starting from scratch with only basic things in place like an Insta page, Mailchimp email list, old website and an empty substack. I have no active following - just friends and family and I am on a minimal wage. So in the interests of keeping it simple and costs low, could I just learn how to lever Instagram and begin creating a community on Substack at first? The same goes for Mailchimp. I was advised to get out of that system. Obviously, it is quite easy to migrate from an email provider but is it possible to then move a community from Substack to Skool or Might Networks or Nas or would it be better to start on the community network that feels best first? As a writer, I really like how Substack is organised. It definitely ticks my boxes but I wonder if I would be missing out on important tools that maybe Skool or the others have because I am basically a noob at this point. Any insights would be most appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!
