DP600 Exam Prep (Meetup) is happening in 5 days
Little bit of inspiration
Good morning, I have started my first job in IT this summer as a Power BI developer. Looking around myself during August-September what to do next - I have started to learn Python and started with Data Science course (7 months long, now 2 months in already). Little bit looking into Fabric environment. Eventually, all the knowledge from past months started to clip in and the synergic effect takes place. I am quite thrilled about this! Now I have started with SQL basics and I am really determined to take DP-600 within the next 3 months, hopefully! Keep up the great job, determine yourself and keep going!

Should I Accept an Internship Focused on Dynamics 365 and Power Platform if My Goal is Data Analytics?
Hi everyone, I’ve recently been offered an internship with a software and digitization company that helps organizations with digital transformation, software development, and tailored digital solutions. They have over 35 years of experience and nearly 300 employees across four global locations. Internship Role The internship I was offered would place me in their internal IT department, primarily focusing on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and Power Platform. Here’s a summary of the tasks outlined in the job description: - Automating business processes using Power Automate. - Building dashboards in Power BI to visualize data insights. - Developing extensions for Business Central using plugins. My Concern While I’m excited about the opportunity to learn these platforms, my long-term goal is to transition into a data analytics or data engineering role, ideally using Microsoft Fabric for advanced analytics, data engineering, and visualizations. This role doesn’t seem heavily focused on data analytics, so I’m debating whether it would be the right step or if I should hold out for something more aligned with my career goals. Questions for the Community 1. Is Dynamics 365/Power Platform experience valuable for a future in data analytics? Could skills in Power BI and Power Automate transfer well if I move into a Fabric-focused role? 2. What specific skills or tools will I likely gain from this internship? How relevant are these skills for a future data analytics position? 3. Are there opportunities to develop data analytics skills within this role? For instance, will I have the chance to work on real data analysis projects, or will it be more focused on implementation and automation? 4. Transitioning from ERP-focused roles to analytics: Has anyone here moved from ERP/Power Platform work to data analytics, and if so, what was the learning curve like? 5. Should I wait for a more analytics-centered role? Given my long-term goals, would it make sense to keep searching, or could this internship still be a strong stepping stone?

Current Open Job Listings mentioning Fabric
There's been a few questions/ discussions about future jobs within Fabric. We're beginning to see companies recruiting for Fabric roles... exciting! Here's a few I found: Lead Data Modeler - Microsoft Fabric Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) GERMAN Microsoft Fabric Engineer (BELGIUM) Senior Consultant - Databricks and Microsoft Fabric Data & Analytics Engineer Principal and Senior consultant level Microsoft Fabric Data & Analytics Consultants I had the idea to create a video reviewing some of these job ads and picking out the common themes, to help people understand what they might need to focus on to get jobs in the future - what do you think of that concept? What you find that interesting? Let me know!

Can I learn Microsoft Fabric without deep knowledge of cloud and data?
Hi everyone! 😊 I’m a Business Information Systems student currently focused on data analytics. So far, I’ve been practicing with Power BI, Excel, Python, and MySQL, mostly through guided projects—no professional experience yet. I’m interested in expanding my skills and learning Microsoft Fabric, but I don’t have much knowledge about cloud computing, data engineering, or data science. Is it possible (or advisable) to dive into Microsoft Fabric without a strong background in these areas? And if so, could you recommend any resources or courses to get me started on the essential theory and concepts I should know first? Any advice on where to begin or how to approach this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! 🙏

Why are there only a handful of Jobs requiring Microsoft Fabric?
Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that there are only a handful of job listings requiring Microsoft Fabric on platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed. Given that it was introduced just over a year ago, this is somewhat expected. However, I’m curious to understand more about this trend. - Why do you think there are so few job listings mentioning Microsoft Fabric? - Is it due to the early stage of its adoption, or are there other factors at play? - How long do you think it will take for Microsoft Fabric to become a common requirement in data engineering roles? Also, I’d like to give a shoutout to our group admin, @Will Needham who has worked tirelessly to build this amazing Microsoft Fabric Community. His efforts have created a space where we can share insights and learn from each other. Looking forward to all of your insights and predictions!
