Direct Lake mode - change "source lakehouse" of semantic model
I have the following situation: We built up a PoC, which was very successfull and now i would like to switch to productive mode. Therefore, I want to "migrate" into different workspaces. This means I have a Productive workspace, where the user will get access to the report. So far so good, I can use deployment pipeline to copy lakehouse, semantic model and report. But the problem is, that the semanctic model is still related to the "old" lakehouse in my development workspace. Now I would like to change the "source lakehouse" of the semantic model but I have found no solution so far. Does anybody have an idea or even experience with this situation?

Migrating to a new workspace and updating the semantic model’s source lakehouse can be tricky. One approach is to use the deployment pipeline to copy the lakehouse, semantic model, and report to the new workspace. After that, you can manually update the connection strings or data source settings in the semantic model to point to the new lakehouse in the productive workspace. @Florian Hofmann
Run notebook activity with workspace identity in data pipelines
Hi All - I have notebook activity which reads data from azure data explorer and writes to one lake. I see the data pipeline is using user identity to run pipeline. Is there way to enforce pipeline to run using workspace identity

You can enforce the pipeline to run using workspace identity. In the pipeline settings, you can configure the Managed Identity option to use the workspace identity instead of the user identity. This ensures that the notebook activity runs with the appropriate permissions associated with the workspace identity.

“I think we need to rewrite the entire codebase… in assembly language.”
Why are there only a handful of Jobs requiring Microsoft Fabric?
Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that there are only a handful of job listings requiring Microsoft Fabric on platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed. Given that it was introduced just over a year ago, this is somewhat expected. However, I’m curious to understand more about this trend. - Why do you think there are so few job listings mentioning Microsoft Fabric? - Is it due to the early stage of its adoption, or are there other factors at play? - How long do you think it will take for Microsoft Fabric to become a common requirement in data engineering roles? Also, I’d like to give a shoutout to our group admin, @Will Needham who has worked tirelessly to build this amazing Microsoft Fabric Community. His efforts have created a space where we can share insights and learn from each other. Looking forward to all of your insights and predictions!

5k members, 1200 threads and now a 2nd team member
Hi everyone, things have gone fast since I launched this community back in January 2024!! I still remember my proud post when we reached 50 members (see below). Well, recently we crossed a previously unimaginable milestone of 5k members. Thank you to every one of you that chooses to spend your time here learning Fabric and engaging with the community. So far, we have had over 1200 conversations/ threads about Microsoft Fabric (the search bar contains a wealth of information!). I hope it has helped you learn Microsoft Fabric. The best thing is that this is just the start, I will continue to invest in this community because I can see it's making (at least a small) difference. But a community of this size is difficult to manage alone (especially as now I spend a lot of time in Fabric Dojo too). As such, I'm delighted to announce that I've brought on board Maleek - @Mubaraq Abdulmaleek to support yourselves (and me!) around the community. Maleek is hugely passionate about Fabric (he was one of the first members of this community back in January!), DP-600 certified and eager to learn as much as possible. He'll help new members get onboarded, help members find stuff (course content/ previous answers to community questions), and generally help make sure you have a great experience here. Great to have you here, Maleek! Soon, I'll share what I have planned for this community in 2025 and beyond. Thank you so much for being a part of this community we're building!
