Birthday Planning
A great example of ways my wife takes on the mental, emotional and invisible labor in our home is my son's first birthday this weekend.
She was the first to bring up his birthday coming up a couple months before. Then, she did the majority of mental and invisible prep, including communicating with the person making a cake, another person making cookies, sending out invitations/received the RSVPs, provided a list of ideas for decor, wish-listed a bunch of ideas on Amazon for his gift, requested I book the venue having already thought through when/where would be ideal, and texted me what details should go on the invitation.
Katie's done this for a LOT of our kids' birthdays. She puts a ton of emotional labor in to making birthdays and occasions special for our family members.
