Using special characters

I've noticed, while researching keywords, that some apps have special characters at the end of the name. For example: Calculator‘, Calculator#, Calculator°.

What's the reasoning behind this? I'm guessing it has to do something with ASO, but can't figure out what. These are not some old forgotten apps, most of them are updated on regular basis. It's definitely not a typo, those developer accounts look like they know what they're doing so there must be some catch. Are those characters used to make the app stand out from the other apps that have the same name?
