Is an Onboarding mandatory for a simple App?
Hi guys. I've just finished developing my first app and I would like to know your opinions about adding an onboarding process. I've heard most onboardings improve the funnel and convert more users than those apps that do not include them. What is your opinion? As for now I have a couple of entry points in my app to the subscriptions screen, however I don't want to be a heavy spammer with it.

@Zan Cerne Yeah, I checked ;)
I’ve launched my new app, ScubaPlan, on the App Store 👌🤿
Hey devs! Two weeks ago, I launched my new app, ScubaPlan, on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra. It’s designed for recreational divers, with the goal of enabling dive planning and using that plan on the Apple Watch Ultra as a secondary dive computer. Although I’m still in the process of getting Apple’s (absurd) permission to access the depth sensors on the Apple Watch Ultra up to 40 meters (currently, I can only retrieve data up to 6 meters…), the initial version is already available with several features, including dive computer mode. I really don’t understand Apple’s stance on this—it just doesn’t make sense. I’m still optimizing the ASO and learning along the way, so any advice on that would be greatly appreciated. The design and development are 100% my own, and I’m currently in the process of replacing the app’s icon with a professional one. I like the current one, but it’s a bit too simple. On another note, I might soon be without client projects and am considering dedicating myself 100% to my own projects, starting with this one, and trying to generate income that way. Thank you so much! I’m really excited about the launch and hope you like it. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scuba-diving-plan/id6689517716

@Arturo Carretero Calvo You can throw C questions at me, I did some in an earlier life. Also try Claude Sonnett / Cursor / Windsurf to explain stuff for you - LLMs should be well trained on C.
Testing, yes or no?
Do you guys normally use tests for your MVPs? I'm thinking about whether or not I should do it on mine now that I'm close to finishing it.

It depends :) With tricky stuff like DateTime, it can be a good idea to let Claude generate some unit tests early on. Else just ship that dirty MVP.

@Mikel Cobian I mark a function/method in Cursor and Cmd-K / Chat "Write some tests", then maybe add "add this corner case X" - in 15min all tricky stuff is covered. Code coverage is just a BS metrics for managers :)
ASO as Keyword opinions
I'm starting to research about ASO and the right keywords I need for the store. During this research I came across a tool called Astro which supposedly offers you the most accurate words for the app once you launch it, however, the services are behind a paywall and I was wondering if it is worth it. Has any of you tried it before and is willing to share their experience with it? Thanks.

It's THE cheap unlimited keywords option. I don't like it too much, but best option. ASOsuite is stalling for a year now, unfortunately.
Feeling stuck...
Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a productive evening. I’m writing this post because I feel stuck. Over the past couple of months, I’ve launched two apps and a blog. Recently, I’ve started to feel like I’m not making progress. Here’s my plan: Short-term goals: • ⚠️ Publish another app (the first one with a paywall, not yet in progress) • Try new strategies for ASO (in progress) • Add app rating nudges • Add new, interesting features (where I learn a new skill, like implementing notifications, which can be reused in future apps - in progress) • Document everything and build in public on my blog (in progress) Blockers: • I’m unsure what app to build next or whether to monetize one of my existing apps (I don’t think my current apps are monetizable) • I struggle with idea capture in my notes—nothing particularly interesting has come up so far…

@Zan Cerne You could add a "buy me a coffee" tip option to your bus app :)
