I live in the DFW area in Texas. I started raising worms a year ago this past Sept.. I started with 5# in two 30 gallon tubs. I now have 50 - 60 pounds in two 8’x2.5’ cft bins. My plan is to start marketing castings for the upcoming growing season. I can produce about 150# of castings a week at my current level. I use horse manure, wood shavings and spent mushroom substrate for food and bedding. My journey with worms began as a way to better utilize the horse manure produced by our horses. In the learning process I discovered that commercial farming is destroying our topsoil and that worm castings can help rebuild the soil. It is now my goal to grow my operation to a large scale that can produce quality worm castings and liquid casting extracts to be used by gardeners, commercial greenhouses and farmers.

Family farm adventures
I'm about 50 miles south of Atlanta GA revitalizing a small 14 acre farm. My plans are to get the 90X350 garden soil amended ( it's been neglected for at least 8 years). I have 6 large dump truck loads of mulch about 2 weeks through the composting process and looking forward to at least that much more. I purchased a used 30x100 hoop style green house that has yet to be erected but looking to get that done in January. I love growing things and can't wait for spring!

Intro
Aloha! I just bought a condo with a yard. I’m in Kihei Hawaii so fortunate enough to be able to grow year round. Just got a fence and a bunch of organic soil to start my garden. Should I get mulch or (?) to put down prior to the soil for drainage. The dirt on the property is the red variety that drains easily. Appreciate any insights! Can send photos as well. 🤙🙏
