Chlorine problems?
I was talking to someone today and they brought up the issue of having chlorine in their water. You can let it sit out for 24 hours, aerate it for an hour, or what I do is just add the smallest amount of humic acid. Let me know what you all do.

I Don’t think I understand all the numbers and what they mean exactly.
Getting Started
Getting started doesn't have to be difficult, but you do have to stop doing a few things. Ideally, you would never do these again, but when you understand what occurs when you do these things, then you might be able to better implement them if you choose to. Now you probably want to know what these things are, right? Ok. Here it is. If it ends in icide stop using them. These things don't only kill the things that are written on the bottle, but they kill everything else too. This means pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and any other icides that are out there. When you know what happens when you use these, then you can understand why they are detrimental to a living soil. Most of the time you don't need to use these, but if you do, make sure you fix the problem you just caused. What chemicals are you willing to give up?

We’ve been saying NO to RoundUp specifically for at least a decade now and more recently we eliminated our bimonthly pest control service. In the yard and garden, we avoid all β€œicides” etc, and only use kitchen-ingredient DIY recipes for plant pests like aphids as needed.

@Dennis Wichter well, it’s easy to eliminate the pest control services in fall and winter. We’ll see what tune I’m singing come spring when the roaches show up!! Perimeter sprays will probably return here, just like at your place. πŸ™ƒ 🚫πŸͺ³
Life Happens
Sometimes life throws things our way and we have to roll with the punches. Some of these we can prepare for and others we can. Today we thought we almost lost our schnauzer. πŸ˜” Gardening is the same way. Nature has tricks up her sleeve like wind, rain, drought, and pest. Some of these we can plan for and some we can't or forget to plan for like the first frost. The best thing we can do is lean on our friends and family for support, take a mental not (for next time), and keep on going. His name is Professor, Fess for short. He is staying in the vet emergency room tonight. We are hoping for the best. πŸ’—

Hope your Professor is feeling better every day! So sorry your family and Fess had an emergency scare.
Have You Heard of Half Moons?
This concept creates a low area for water to collect allowing seeds, microbes, and other critter to create habitats theat turn into mini oasis. These mini oasis or micro climates are something we can do in our back yards. It all starts with air, water, food, and microbes for the soil. https://hackaday.com/2024/11/24/hacking-the-soil-to-combat-desertification/
