Are you bullish, bearish, or somewhere in between on GenAI?
Is it just me or are there 3-ish camps emerging around GenAI? Where are you on this "spectrum"? 1. The bullish vendors, in the vanguard of GenAI, saying it's going to take over the world, it can do anything, etc. They seem to ignore, or at least don't mention -- in fact, hide in their marketing -- any negative aspects or poor performance? 2. The bearish buyers, the laggards if you will, who see nothing but bad in GenAI. They can range from disgruntled, under-whelmed tyre-kickers who have cancelled their ChatGPT Plus subs, all the way to the frightened or the disinterested who haven't touched GenAI and have no intention to. 3. The cautious skeptics in the middle who see some value, but they're also aware of the drawbacks. They "see" the gap between GenAI hype and reality, but they're not sure what to do about it. I've seen #1 and #2 for months now, but I'm seeing #3 more and more -- but maybe it's personal bias? I'm not sure -- would love your perspectives? Thank you!

A "risk" perspective of generative AI
Just finished our weekly newsletter. The theme had to be "risk" after last week's OpenAI drama! Anyhoo, would love feedback and we're also lining up weekly guest authors, who also help us choose a theme for "their week". It's all free. We're only on week/episode 6, so still early days. Each week we have a new theme and cover news, views (our take), and how-tos (actionable advice). More than just your bullet list of links :) Let me know what you think and if you fancy being involved. We're a fun group! Best, Steve https://www.youandai.news/

🤠 Sam’s BAAAACK in the Saddle Again!!
🎶 A little Aerosmith inspiration there fam. “We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam to return to OpenAI as CEO,” the statement said.” Read the full article ⤵️ https://apple.news/AnK6zyDHoTGCmqUJjUKpaWw

ChatGPT "down" tonight -- the hits keep on coming!
I was using ChatGPT tonight and I got two weird screens -- "We've run out of capacity" and "ChatGPT4 Alpha". Now it's forcing me to upgrade to plus (already on it) but the UI doesn't work. On top of the political drama, now we have operational drama. I am telling my clients and partners to get off OpenAI as fast as possible. I am also advising them to build a cautious LLM evaluation process AND -- if they can -- a multi-LLM approach with things like LangChain. I also see aiXplain have some answers. I think the problems at OpenAI are like the cold shower that wake us all up: now what?! :-) What do you think?

AI Agents/Assistants for Business Operations Tasks?
Has anyone looked into / developed an AI solution for common business operations tasks to shoulder/delegate the day-to-day administrative burdens? For example, answering staff HR questions if the agent has access to the Employee Handbook and HR notes, meetings, tickets? What about interpreting balance sheet, profit/loss, and cash flow? What about time management? What about sales performance? The list goes on -- this article (weirdly, on Groupon!) has some ops tasks. My gut feel is that you could create an AI assistant/agent for specific "jobs to be done"/tasks. There are the usual challenges here with the hallucination, data privacy and security, and the throughput/limits of AI not to mention the complexity of doing it... but... seems like an obvious area? I've seen some offerings in this area like Kognitos
