Mastering Upwork Portfolios (Get More Messages)
Whether you offer a visual service or not, you NEED a portfolio. If you offer a visual service like graphic design, video editing, or web design your portfolio is simple: Create at least 3 sections and put as many examples of your work into each section as you can. Break up your sections by the service. For example: Section #1: Short-Form Video Editing Section #2: Long-Form Video Editing Section #3: Thumbnail Design If you offer a non-visually stimulating service like Bookkeeping, SEO, or Google Ads you still NEED a portfolio. It’s an opportunity to stand out from thousands of other freelancers and agencies in your niche. I promise you, it’s worth doing. There are 2 strategies I teach in my Premium Upwork Community for this: #1: Film a 1-2 minute video discussing each service you offer. Mention your experience with the service, what it includes, and results you’ve achieved. #2: Use a tool like loom, and review a clients dashboard / ad account and create a mini case study. Mention what the client was struggling with when they hired you, what you helped them with, and the results you generated. These videos are typically 2-3 minutes long. Film 3 of them and put them each into their own section of your portfolio. Implement these portfolio strategies and you’ll get more clients to send you a message. Speak soon, Nico P.S. We’re hosting our first ever webinar this Thursday. It’s free to attend, and you can add it to your calendar here: https://www.skool.com/upwork-outbound-free-9857/calendar?eid=bafbc5c4735843a1915ddee78902d3f8

Solid points! I had initially thought that VAs didn’t have portfolios but I came across a few top rated profiles that actually have portfolios — really impressive. I will be including a portfolio to my profile soon!

Welcome Adeel!
From 0 to $15K/Month With Upwork
My largest period of Upwork growth came after I saw my proposals from the client’s point of view. In today’s post I’ll give you the same info so you can achieve that same rapid growth. When you submit a proposal on Upwork the client doesn’t immediately get to see the entire thing. They just get a small preview with the first 225 characters of your proposal, your profile picture, your title, and a few other small features. To get clients to click on this preview and read the rest of our proposal, you need to focus on optimizing the first 225 characters of your proposal and your profile picture. Optimizing the first 225 characters of our proposal, comes down to two elements: - Social Proof - Personalization  Personalization includes: - Finding the client's name and using it at the start of your proposal - Reading the entire job description and including relevant details Social proof includes: - Mentioning big clients you have  - Your years of experience / # of projects completed (if over 3 years / 50 projects) - Impressive statistics you have (Spent $100M on ads?) When it comes to optimizing your profile picture, focus on these: - Smile - Good lighting - High-quality photo - Brushed hair / nice shirt - Nice background (or plain) - Face is easy to see and centered If you do that, I guarantee you’ll get more views on your proposals. Cheers, Nico 🎁 BONUS 🎁 Boosting your proposals will also significantly increase views. If you’re new to a service on upwork and have no social proof, is there anything else you can add to personalisation? Or that’s enough to get some clients
Upwork SEO Tips
Want to show up high in the search rankings on Upwork, get more invites, and sign more clients? Then follow these 3 simple SEO tips: #1.) Pack Your Title With Keywords When a client makes a search on Upwork, every freelancer that appears has one of those words in their title: Ex.) If a client searched “Google Ads”: All the freelancers who show up first have the word Google or Ads or both in their title. With this in mind, we want to pack our title full of commonly searched up phrases on Upwork. Clients could be searching up: General services: “Google Ads, SEO, video editing” Specific services: “On-page SEO, short-form video editing” Tools / platforms: "Instagram Manager, React Developer” Our goal is to understand what words our clients are searching, and pack them into our title, while making sure our title is understandable and clients know what we do. #2.) Skill Tags You see, when a client searches up a service, like “Google Ads”, all freelancers who show up at the top have the skill tag that matches this search. (See image attached) You’re allowed 15 skill tags in your main profile. To find the winning tags, search your service on Upwork, and look at the skill tags on jobs you want. Create a list, and keep track of the volume for each skill tag you see -- then put the most common 15 into your profile. If you’ve been offering your service for a while, follow your intuition. You’ll likely know a few of the terms clients are searching, even if they don’t show up as skill tags in all of the jobs you see. #3.) Complete Your Entire Profile Upwork created each section of the profile because they want you to complete them. These aren’t random sections, and if you complete every aspect of your profile they’ll show your profile to more people. That’s all for today’s email. Hope you found it valuable 🤝 Wishing you success, Nico P.S. Are You Ready To Sign High-Paying Clients on Upwork? Speed up your success by joining our Premium Upwork Community where you'll get:
