Randomic Porosity in Fluent
Good afternoon everyone, could someone help me? I am working with porous media and I want to set a random porosity in my domain. I tried a DEFINE_PROFILE, but it calculates random values for my porosity at each iteration, but I only want it to calculate the profile once and use it for the rest of the calculations. I tried creating a DEFINE_INIT, and I was able to initialize random values and associate them with a UDS variable, but I can't associate these values from the profile generated in the cell zone conditions. Does anyone have any ideas?

commenting for reach.. probably worth looking at the manual online. Have you tried looking for porosity models there?
Guidance Needed for CFD Simulations of Mixers in STAR-CCM+
Hello everyone, I recently graduated with a degree in Fluid Mechanics and have prior experience with simulation projects, primarily using COMSOL and OpenFOAM. However, I’m new to STAR-CCM+ and would like to perform CFD simulations for mixers. From my initial research, it seems that the MRF (Multiple Reference Frame) method is widely used for such simulations. That said, I’ve come across limited tutorials specific to STAR-CCM+, and I’m hoping to get some advice from experienced users of this software. Specifically, I’d appreciate guidance on: 1. Mastering STAR-CCM+: Tips, resources, or learning strategies that can accelerate my understanding of the software. 2. Simulating Mixers: Best practices, common pitfalls to avoid, or any specific workflows/tutorials for modeling mixers. Any recommendations, resources, or insights you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for asking Ilias! What I'd advise for commercial packages is to start with the guide. Especially Star has a very extensive online manual. and of course if anyone here has more tips would be welcome.
Help with Splashfoam
I've been trying to learn OpenFOAM and SplashFOAM looks like a blessing so far. As I am trying to mesh following the SplashFOAM webinar on YouTube, I get the error saying openfoam2306 is unavailable. I wanted to see if I can change the working case to OpenFOAM 2406 before I install the older one. Any help regarding this would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. P.S: I've tried the contact us page on simulitica website, it just redirects saying address currently unavailable as I try to submit a request, hence my posting the question here.

Hi @Anirudh Diwakar thank you very much for giving Splash a shot! I'm not sure if you've seen it already but we released a new interactive tool which allows you to install any version of OF you like. The details are here in the manual below: https://github.com/mohamedalysayed/SplashFOAM/tree/main Let me know if the issue still persists :) Regarding the website we're currently revamping the whole system so this is gonna be solved soon. for now feel free to report any issue on here or on Github ;)
