Posts about CFD on LinkedIn
Hello everyone. I recently took the initiative to create my laboratory's social networks. We are starting our posts and we will try to bring relevant topics to promote good scientific discussions. Today we are posting a little about our experience with the experimental PIV and Shadow Sizing techniques. Come and learn a little more about us and, if you like, like and follow us to receive our posts. Modeling Porosity in Fluent
Hello everyone, I need help with a question. I want to define a porosity distribution function in my Fluent domain. This function can be any function, I just want to see how it would behave in my case using a non-constant porosity. I tried to implement a UDF to do this, but I couldn't do it, the porosity remained constant, I asked to print the value in the console (I'm new to UDF, I tried to follow the tutorial on porosity profile). Can someone help me with this?

Hi everybody! Happy to have you all here and very excited to kick-start a long journey of mentorship and growth with all of you. To help get to know each other and break the shyness, take a moment to introduce yourself below and let others know what you're currently working on (CFD or in general). ** Please make sure you have carefully read this post and participated in this poll [takes 5 seconds] Let's go!

Hello Everyone. Nice to meet you! My name is Nathan Francisco and I'm from Brazil, I currently live in Rio de Janeiro. If anyone travels here, we can arrange a coffee hahaha! I'm Chemical Engineer and currently I'm finishing my master's degree at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). I'm working with CFD simulations for gas separation using hollow fiber membrane modules, focusing in scaleup. I use mainly the Ansys Package, but I have a good sense of OpenFOAM (and I use it sometimes). I'm relatively nem in CFD, but I have a great interest and respect for the area. I hope to be able to contribute and strengthen my base with you!

If you haven't done Fluent's own yet, I recommend starting with them. They give a good introduction to the software and some setup tips that can help with your simulations. To find them, go to fluent -> help -> on the website you will find the tutorials.
Problems with ICEM
Hi guys! I had a problem with ICEM and I think you can help me. I designed a geometry using OpenSCAD and exported a .stl file. In ICEM I deleted the surface and extracted the curves for new curves, my objective with this was to delete a part in the geometry. So I recreated the surfaces with the curves and started generating the mesh, but I was having issues with negative elements. When I investigated, I saw that when recreating the surfaces, ICEM generated almost overlapping curves, disrupting the mesh. My geometry is a cylindrical geometry. Has anyone gone through something similar? What's the best way to get around this situation? P.S.: In the first image we have a piece of geometry with a curve having different connections. When zooming in, we can see two curves, almost overlapping. #geometry #ICEM #mesh

@Sadees PalaniVel I just needed the projection of a circle onto the surface of the cylinder, but in Openscad I couldn't do that well, so I made a duct as an inlet. Then, in ICEM I undo the surfaces, as OpenSCAD generates the surface, not just curves, and to erase the inlet duct and leave only the projection of the circle I remade the surfaces again.

@Mohamed Sayed Thanks Mohamed, but unfortunately there is some confidential data in CAD. :( I found another way to solve my problem, but my team worked hard and I wanted to see if there was any way to take advantage of their work. But I appreciate your availability!
