The 7 Most Damaging Tips You Can Give Your Child Before A Race
Here's what I'd do if I wanted my girl to suffer from bad pre-race anxiety: Tell her... 1) That she's very, VERY talented. And do it often! 2) To relax and just have fun! (oh yeeee, we've all been there. Backfires!) 3) You got this, you can PB! 4) I KNOW you can win this thing! 5) Just do what you practiced. 6) You're better than the others. 7) BONUS: I compare her to other age-groupers all day long (I see you parents 🙈) Got any other terrible advice? Drop them below in the comment section.

I generally use a comment similar to that above along with “don’t forget to…” Depending on the race it could be . Fast turn over . Hands first (fly) . Get that quick start on fly and back then power home on freestyle (IM) . The person you need to beat to medal is lane * Etc etc 🤦🏼‍♀️ I do say ‘love you’

@Mirjam Wenzel I figure it’s going to be really hard for me to keep zipped 🤐. Really hope we can try it out at our next meet so my daughter can give me feedback.

The 200IM was so impressive. In breaststroke she dropped to third place (weakest stroke) but really thought not to let the lead open up too much. Then on freestyle she just gave it all she had. Incredible performance Skyla. Proud mother.
⭐️ The Day My Whole Life Changed ⭐️
Sometimes in life you can pinpoint the exact moment when everything changed… This was one of those moments… This picture was taken 12 years ago… It was day 3 of the Olympic trials right after my 200m IM. My dad took the photo because I think my mom was too shaky. It was the best moment of my life… I finally did it… After 17 years of training.. I’m going to the Olympic Games. And let’s be honest… Can you see the relief in my face??? I had just had my best year of training… Mostly because I was given the opportunity to work 1-1 with Dr Jim Bauman who was the sports psychologist of Michael Phelps… #Blessed But I’ll never forget the time when things didn’t work out for me. Feeling good in training, even better during taper… I knew it was MY moment to shine and score a lot of points for my team (University of Virginia)... Even the warm-up was blazing fast and everyone knew I was in shape. And I always felt even better when I shaved… (in America, we let our beards grow for like 3 months before the big meet) But then when I got to the call room, something changed. My heart started racing… My brain decided to propel me into these full HD scenarios of everything that could go wrong… And the worst was, I had no clue how to stop it. And sure enough, the first 100m felt cranky and totally different than an hour ago during warm up… My legs started burning earlier than usual and I knew this is no bueno. When I touched the wall (yes, I came last…), I was devastated. I let down my team, my coaches, my parents and most importantly… Myself. Again. Today, because I took that leap of faith, and because I got help from people who knew more than me (clearly!), I'm humbled to say I have been able to positively impact 100’s of swimmers in Europe… I have had the honor of helping and mentoring competitive swimmers who not only made themselves and their families happy, but also elevated their entire swim club. Lots of people ask me.. hey man.. How did you have such a massive drop in your PB’s in your last year of swimming?

We are just off to a gala. Skyla is competing 3 races today and 4 tomorrow. Thank you for you inspirational posts.
My Birthday is in 4 days.. but this year I will be giving YOU a gift..
On that day, I will be making the biggest announcement of my business life.. and I mean that... I truly truly mean that... no hype... It’s something I've been working on for the past few months... It's something that I feel is my destiny... It's something that will change my life, but more importantly, change your life.. and if everything goes right… it will positively impact hundreds and eventually thousands of lives... Please circle October 6th, 4pm CET (3pm UK) on your calendar... I will make the announcement on a live Zoom call... This date will always stay in my heart forever as the day when everything changed... I'm most excited for you.. this announcement will help you swim faster than you ever have... while fully enjoying the journey of a competitive swimmer. Who doesn’t want that... Meanwhile enjoy a baby photo of me.. hahah and if you can’t wait for my mega announcement.. scream - HE HAD A HUGE HEAD! 😂

Get Your Technique Fixed In October
Instead of teaching you proper technique and giving you constant feedback... Swim coaches often hang out on their phones... Or chat to the lifeguards... 😅 And sometimes, the coach just sucks and doesn't do his or her job... But sometimes, they have 30+ children in one group and it's impossible to give the swimmers the attention that they need. Either way, you're not getting the technical feedback that you need which sucks because you'll be slow. I was skeptical to coach technique online at first because I thought I needed to be there live with the swimmer. Then I tried it with a private client of mine, he's only 12y old... And all I did was analyze his breaststroke for about 30mins... 45 days ago his PB was a 3:04. I gave him ONE technical input for his breaststroke kick and we double-checked his progress after 30 days... And this weekend - 45 days later... Drumroooolls... He swam a 2:45!! That's 19 seconds in 45 days, not bad. So I thought I'll let you guys know first that I'm offering to do the same for 5 swimmers in October. First come first serve. All details in the Classroom tab under TECHNICAL STROKE ANALYSIS. You'll have to send me good quality videos and then there will be multiple short 1-1 meetings with me on Zoom over the next 30-60 days. I'll explain everything once you're on the inside. See you at the pool, David 🏊 P.S. Don't miss tomorrow's Live Training at 8:30pm CET - I'll show you life lesson from Kobe Bryant that changed my life and I wish someone told me earlier.
