@Dorothy Bean I wear multiple swim caps and my hair stays dry and on occasionally gets slightly wet if I'm jumping in the pool a lot or didn't take my time to put the caps on right. I understand the hair struggle...it's real
Great to have this level of support
Got to my first Q&A session with Jeff today (and a rather sweet looking doggy, video bombing in the background!) Spent some time discussing the things I am stuck on as well things that were going well. He was so positive and affirming of my improvisation when doing my rollover practice. Also got advice on best foods to eat before a swim session especially for those longer ones i.e. 60-90 minutes for me. Chatted about the deep water course they are planning on running in January 2025 which I hope I will be ready for. Anyone else in the community planning to make this?

Breathing during free style with swimming accessories
I was able yesterday to swim a lane and breathe 3 times during 25m length. I used leg fins and nose clip. I wasn't able to breathe from the begging, and stopping with fins when I was with my front side down is a bit harder to do in a short time. I started to release air slowly early, and when it was the time to breathe, I made an move that did help me to breathe enough air to continue. I breathe on the right side and once started to breathe, I pushed my left arm down, to help keeping my head high enough to finish air intake. After I submerged my head in water, I was able to correct my body position easily with the fins on. I repeated the process without the nose clips, but breathing out thru the nose when turning the head in both directions. Trying to remove also the fins, didn't help me to complete the lane, but I was able to breathe twice before stopping.

Great job I really want to work on freestyle swimming this upcoming year :)
Hey All! Newbie alert!
Hi All, I came here through youtube. Coach Jeff and Coach Meredith are really professionals who can cater to adult swimming. In many pools I could see coaches just teaching strokes which may help very few adults. Whereas Jeff & Meredith teach comfort in water, which is how it should be taught to begin with. I have been in to just 15 or 16 hrs in swimming. I really wanted to learn swimming as a kid but my parents being conservative didn't allow me, due to the fear that I may become over confident one day and venture in to dangerous waters. They are loving and I accept their fear as loving parents. But this prevented me from getting rid of the fear of water. I enrolled myself in the month of august 2024 with my 10 years old son in the local swimming pool. There I found the coaches approach was not suitable for adults but only for kids. My son quickly learnt basic strokes but I was suffering with many things. Their way of teaching was not systematic but it was like trying to teach 5 years experience swimmer to improve on thier skills. That's when I thought of self learning with the basics I learnt in my classes. Till this day I might have seen 1000 videos, atleast, learning slowly things and trying out in the local pool. I can't access pool daily and only in weekends which in a way makes my progress slow down. However, I am trying to overcome these limitations and become a better swimmer every time I go to the local pool. My current problem is I don't feel balanced in water when I start rotating my arms. I think this is because I coudn't roll on properly to the opposite side of my rotating arm. I am doing some core execrcise to strenghten my core and I try to stretch my legs and tighten my core while kicking, so that my legs don't go down while I am rotating my arms. I am seeking expert support to overcome this issue. Thanks & Regards, Kiruba
