I train nogi every time I train in the gi. Use a gi grip on the wrist - gi Use a nogi grip on the wrist - nogi It's simple. There's no need for choosing one or the other.

@Michael Orr awesome! Thank you!
Should slamming be legal in BJJ?
I’ve always wondered why it’s not legal for the majority of tournaments. Even ADCC only allows it when there’s a threat of a submission. I’m not talking about spiking on their head or neck but a slam. My thoughts are for youth and white belts probably keep them safe from themselves and not allow it. For all adult coloured belts, let’s see what happens. Easy way to not get slammed while triangle choking someone, let go of it, or lock up a leg to keep their posture broken. I bet you’d see some interesting developments in the Gi game. Also to those that jump guard and willing to risk blowing out your knees, you risk getting slammed via Seismic Toss, Machamp Style. Thoughts?

CJI Day 2
The first ever CJI tournament is in the books! My take: Pros: The innovations that separated them from every other Jiu-jitsu event - The Alley, multiple rounds, 10 point must, open scoring - all seemed to work great for the athletes, the viewers, and the sport! Obviously, the money for the athletes was the biggest game changer of all, with two new millionaire athletes in the sport. Lots of money raised for charities. Cons: The judges criteria seemed a little ambiguous in tightly contested matches. The worst example, IMO, was the -80 finals. I really felt they got round 4 completely backwards, and that would have changed who won the million. The Gabi vs Craig match was a total side show. That being said, I don't know how else it could have played out, but the circus aspect was a little cringe/embarrassing. Just my opinion. The animus with ADCC was taken too far. I get that they were trying to make a point, but ADCC is by far the most important tournament that our sport has. Watching the tone of the trolls online, they've made it a zero sum equivalence between CJI and ADCC. That's going to destroy ADCC in the long run. Something that took nearly 30 years to build, and is not easy to replace. Best case scenario: CJI sticks around and becomes the highest paying event in the sport. ADCC sticks around and grows their brand as well as their fighter pay. Everyone chills the F out with the negativity towards either, and we all win! What are your thoughts? ⬇️⬇️

Yeah. I kinda wish they didn't lean so hard on competing with ADCC so much. I feel like there's room for both for both to exist - and many more! The clown/troll/memer in me kinda relished the snipes Craig took at ADCC, but I've honestly never heard anyone say anything bad about Mo Jasim. So I hope they find a way to coexist. I really liked the format and the production was pretty high-level. I was impressed by 2/3rds of the commentators. And the ring announcer was great. There were a few technical glitches that my (OCD) brain clung to, but for a first time production it was fantastic. The 10-point must system is a "meh" for me. But I think it worked out well for them. No major complaints there. We have so many big brains in Jiu Jitsu - I'm sure we can come up with something better than what's barely been serving [corrupt] boxing for close to a century. I was really stoked about all the matchups in all the brackets. We saw some matches that I'm not sure we would have ever seen outside of CJI. No - I'm not referencing Gabi vs Craig 😂 The pit/alley is amazing. It really solves a lot of issues that open or raised platform mats caused. I loved it. And it added to the technical aspects of fighters who knew how to use the walls/ramps. All-in-all - I think it was a great production. Congrats to Craig and Co. and all the athletes who won - and lost. I think everyone came out on top. From an outsider's perspective, of course.
Map for Open Mats in Areas
I always thought it would be a great idea to have a map the shows open mats in areas and a short comment about the open mat (large space, caters to Gi more/Nogi more, etc)

@Jim Morrison nice! Happy to hear it. Let me know your thoughts on the app or any feature/functionality requests. We're working out a way for gym owners to "claim" their listing somehow and customize some of the info. Still trying to figure out how to do that in a way that's not prohibitively labor intensive or involves too much manual intervention by app admins. Anywho... Glad it's working out for you!

@Jim Morrison no worries at all. If you tap and hold at the start time of your event then drag to the end time it will highlight the time on the calendar and when you release it will add it to your events.
