Tuesday
Hey guys, going to post some things today, starting to fill out the landing page content section, and I do have that coffee hour in the schedule. I know a few of us have talked about finding a more convenient time for those and to do some coworking. Should I leave this today and I can chat with anyone who needs has questions. Or should I wait again until we have more members and better times?

I am just getting off of work most times around 3 pm if not a bit later so I will have to figure something out.
Homework answers for the Writing Headlines assignment
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I didn't see anywhere else to so here goes: These are the homework (haven't had homework in years. Wow!) answers to the Kerry Morrison/David Ogilvy assignment about writing headlines. I don't have an industry perse so I chose cars because I have always been passionate about them. Anyhow I am brand new to this and have not wrote a single piece of copy before but here are some headlines that I came up with. Let me know how bad I did afterwards. 😂 I have thick skin. How to (drive faster) without (wasting more gas). How to (shift gears) without (using the clutch). How to (change your cars paint color) without (ever repainting or rewrapping it). How to (work on your car) without (getting your hands dirty). How to (become a professional racecar driver) without (setting foot in an actual car). The secret to (driving a slow car fast), not just downhill... The secret to (how you can be "GREEN" by putting a turbo on your car). The secret to (buying replacement car parts at a bargain price). The secret to (buying your next sports car for cheap). It is possible... (3) ways to (save money at the gas pump). (4) ways to get (the most miles per gallon from your sports car). (5) ways to get (the most "SMILES" per gallon from your "not-so-sporty" Sports Utility Vehicle [SUV]).

@Corinna Miller I appreciate your honest feedback. Coming from writing creatively for years I definitely have to retrain my writing brain to be more concise and clear and to leave out the fancy wordplay and comedy, etc. I read and have heard on multiple copywriting podcasts that being to the point and clear is what people want and what can help drive sales. So I am glad that one of those spoke to you!
Time Zones ⌚
Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask where abouts everyone is located. I want to make sure I can come to some coffee hours and Q&A's, but I am in the UK so its a bit tougher for me to promise before knowing where around the world everyone is! Corinna = GMT

Finding Clarity
A more personal note. Yesterday was my mom’s birthday yesterday. She’s no longer with us, so it’s a day where I just mostly stay offline and take time to reflect. It’s certainly not a day I want to use for content. But I couldn’t help but think of the night when I got the call telling me she was in the hospital in a bad way. She and my father were in Canada, and I was living in London. It was 8 or 9pm and I was in the office. By midnight, I was on a plane. Didn’t ask permission. Didn’t check with anyone. I left. Now, to their credit, the company I was working for and my boss at the time were very understanding of my having to go. Supportive of my leaving. But as the days dragged on, that support got less and less. To the point where they started asking me for work. To attend meetings and participate in office things. They weren’t shitty about it. They didn’t demand me back. But I was a cog, required on things, so they did what they had to do for the organization. They asked me to do my job. Even though it still came some months later. This was my breaking point. Being told, sorry, being asked to focus on work instead of my mom, was the final straw, breaking the final back ( in a long line of shitty job things - I’ll tell you, guys, one day about being thrown out on the sidewalk by security, like in a movie ). As I sat thinking about all this yesterday, it finally dawned on me, in total clarity, why I wanted to do this Skool thing. And why is it so important to me that I do? Freedom. Not wealth. Not fancy cars or big houses. Not luxurious vacations or bling. It’s freedom. Freedom to go where I please, when I please. To live a life where god forbid someone I care for is sick, I can drop everything and go to them for as long as is needed. Freedom. And not always even for major things. I go to the gym every day between 10am and 11am. And no one can tell me I can’t. Or that I should be somewhere else or doing something else. Anyway, I didn’t want to share something dark, but because it came to mind, and I really think this is relevant, here we are.

FREEDOM. That's the word I have been looking for when people ask me why I don't want to move up in the job I am in currently to become a designer/engineer instead of just being an operator/builder. I work at a custom cabinet shop by the way. I hate it. And I never could find the right term for it but you nailed it. FREEDOM. So thank you for that. While it is scary to venture out into the unknown abyss of possibilities that working for yourself has in store for you I think it's necessary for mental health amongst other things so that is what I hope to do eventually. Every job I have ever had was horrible and soul sucking. Sorry to hear about this time of year for you. It seems like the holidays are a bad time for a lot more people than people think. But I do appreciate you bringing us this valuable information throughout the good and bad times. And I am sure others do too.
