The Pursuit of Pleasure: Epicurus' Hedonism
Imagine running on a treadmill. No matter how fast or long you run, you remain in the same spot. This is a powerful metaphor for the "hedonic treadmill," a concept that suggests our pursuit of pleasure often leads us to a state of constant craving without lasting satisfaction. Epicurus, the ancient Greek philosopher, advised us to seek simple pleasures, such as the company of friends or a satisfying meal, over the relentless chase of material wealth or status. He believed that we could step off the treadmill and find more sustainable happiness by appreciating these small joys.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with desiring anything - material or non material as long as it doesn't come at the expense of another (e.g by theft or fraud). The whole of life is just the appeasement of hunger. Desire is the mainspring of all action.

@Learning Ivan - yes, you can say for one to really seek the God within him, there must be a problem to overcome. If life is very comfortable then that is unlikely to happen.

@Hanah Hasn - very good question. I think the key is to have goals that inspire and are not conditioned down to be "realistic". This is the mistake too many make - they adjust their goals downwards to the point where it ceases to inspire or produce the "thrill" needed should it be achieved. Once the goal has been set correctly, the next step is to dwell in the end in imagination and enjoy the feeling of the goal already realised. Repeat this imagining the end as frequently as possible till it feels natural. Your outer. physical self will move out of compulsion and doors unknown be opened towards the realisation of your goal. This is the law.
Metaphysics, spirituality, human consciousness and the science of the Mind
There is a definite science of the mind just like how there is a science of thermodynamics, magnetism, electricity, etc. There are some basic criteria that are considered appropriate when proposing a scientific theory such as: 1. It is impersonal. e.g the person operating an electric appliance will observe the same effects as another person. 2. Repeatability. e.g the laws of thermodynamics work just the same as in the UK as they do in the USA, Australia, etc. They also are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The science of the mind also follows such criteria that deem it to be a scientific theory. I attempt to explain this in a podcast interview I did last year: Diving into human consciousness, metaphysics and the soul It would be great to get your views. ps: I may have posted this link somewhere else in a comment but posting here again as its relevant to this post.

7 Great Hermetic Principles
The 7 great Hermetic principles and how to apply them in your daily lives... Let's discuss! My favourite is the 2nd great Hermetic principle of correspondence: "As above, so below; as below, so above." - The Kybalion This can also be stated as - "As within, so without". To change the outward circumstances in your life without first a change in the consciousness of your being is to labour in vain.

@Learning Ivan how would you apply the principle of Rhythm to a practical problem in life?
1 like • Jun 10
@Learning Ivan - the way I see the application of the principle of Rhythm is via the recognition that our moods create our circumstances and like a pendulum we move from feeling great to feeling low. However, mere recognition of this swing itself isn't sufficient to escape from it. We must perform a mental transmutation to rise above the pendulum so as to not be hurt when it swings back.
The unbelievable power of your subconscious mind
I appeared on a podcast episode last year to discuss this very important topic and share my views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQsfnnobiRY&ab_channel=ThePainFreeMethod%E2%84%A2 It would be great to read your views here or underneath the video on YouTube 🌞 Blessings 🙏

@Desiree Méndez in fact it's more than that... Your subconcious mind is the only healing power there is 😊

@Desiree Méndez the opposite is also true. Keep repeating "I am sick", "I am in pain", "I am a failure", and such destructive thought patterns and your subconcious will also take that at face value and express that in your life.
