Glad I got to chat with you briefly yesterday!
Career pathing
I put up a poll on LI about sharing career experiences, specifically where I erred, to help folks with avoiding some of the pitfalls. Plan is to share both there and here, so might have level of redundancy- but I'll start here: What missed in my first 10 years (yes, 10 YEARS) of my career is not knowing what I wanted to do with myself. I treated this industry as a job only, not thinking about who I worked for, what I did, etc. I was not deliberate in anything I did, and this cost me time, promotions, and 10s of thousands of dollars. I finally sat down and started to track "what do I actually want to DO"? Not a title, not even an org, but what is it I want to spend my time on? Determining that, allowed me to start tracking towards the goal of being fulfilled in my work. Here were a few of the bullets: I wanted to lead I wanted to speak publicly on the industry I wanted to drive strategic initiatives I wanted a public presence I wanted a huge network, so that wherever I went, I had friends Still working on a few of these, but I've been able to and continue to accomplish these. For those who haven't- start to map out the things you want to do. Remove title, compensation, orgs from it, and simply focus on how your time will be spent. Chart your destiny #strongestmaninlogistics

Carrier reuse
A great point I saw this morning around carrier reuse and how many people are talking about it lately. When I was a carrier sales rep, this was my bread and butter, I didn't want to put new carriers I didn't know on my freight. It drove people nuts that initially I wasn't great at covering transactional freight day of, but being able to consistently cover our contracted freight (profitably) kept that option open to us. I did it just because li liked the steady commissions- how else do folks encourage or incentivize carrier reuse?

3 pillars of operations
I've been talking about this for a few years, but starting to really push this, especially in these lean times. Video series is on some other platforms, but here is the high level concept: The 3 Pillars of Operations Just for argument's sake, some will say there are more, and they’re probably not wrong. I like to keep things simple cause I'm a simple guy, and I break things down into sets of 3 usually (a few months back, I talked about this as well). This allows people to focus, and ultimately look for ways they can tie their efforts back to larger organizational goals. The 3 pillars I focus on operationally are: 1- Extreme Ownership 2-Customer Experience 3-Free cash Flow keeping things simple is CRUCIAL to stickiness of these concepts, and adoption by team members

Good Freight Books
Do you know of any good books on freight and trucking? I've found a few, but most are self-published and tough to access. Seems like we need some more learning resources. Does anyone in Freight Skool have a book idea?
