What's this Group's general feeling on working with oversees Dispatchers?
Guys, I am in the Payments space. I am not a Broker. I have a Dispatching operation asking me to plug him in with active Freight Brokers. He supplies me with 2-3 Carrier accounts a week so I know he is legit. My question for the group is this. Who here works with Dispatchers to source capacity? Has it been a good or bad experience?

@Bill Robinson great points Bill. I would be considered a Globalist, however in the case of carrier dispatch services, Most foreign dispatch services skirt around too many US, FMCSA, IRS laws, rules and regulations meant to protect US consumers and citizens. They are cheaper because they don’t play by the same rules as domestic dispatchers. They primarily act as “brokers” without the same regulatory requirements of their US counterparts. Stat facts: US Freight Brokerages going out of business shutting down, laying off employees At the same time Exponential increase in Foreign “Dispatch” services. Certainly a tell tale sign that everything about these foreign dispatch services is NOT on the up and up.

@Bill Robinson Its funny, today I'm helping a client open up an NRI account in Canada. With this said there should be a requirement that all foreign "dispatch" services have a Tax ID in the country they provide services in. If they provide that service in the US then they should have a corresponding Tax ID. If they provide that service in Canada then they should have a corresponding Tax ID. If they don't, don't do business with them. My opinion
Illegal Freight
Have you ever had to work with Homeland Security, FBI, ATF, Police or any other Government agency in regards to "Suspect Freight" in your possession (Carrier or Warehouse)? Have you ever had the Dogs come through your warehouse, onto your terminal dock or into your truck/trailer looking for illegal contraband? When presented with a warrant, do you cooperate? I'm just so surprised to hear the professionals we work with from these agencies tell us how many people in Freight Transportation do NOT cooperate. The funniest thing is the last time we had one of these agencies visit our facility, I (The Owner) was working in Miami. lol I looked suspicious, until they found out I was there working on a Government contract. lol Its our position that its best to cooperate and do everything you can to help the authorities. Who are these people in Transportation Logistics that don't?

@Lisa Taylor no, usually they have reasonable suspicion. Our Order of Service specifically outlines the illegal items our clients cannot tender to us. It’s the same as the standard USPS list.
Cost to operate rise yet again
The story of inflation & cost to do business continues to get bleaker for our carrier friends out there. With most freight I see on the board barely being above this $2.27 operating cost estimate is the damage more then people are aware of to the carriers? https://www.ccjdigital.com/economic-trends/freight-demand/article/15678318/permile-cost-of-trucking-hit-record-high-in-2023?utm_medium=email&utm_content=06-26-2024&utm_campaign=CM_NL_CCJ+Daily&utm_source=CM_NL_CCJ+Daily&ust_id=3c8edb5b1c3638e951e9bedb13d445f98bb2419a&oly_enc_id=9629J8650390I5N

The biggest blow is the ever increasing insurance rates. My carrier insurance renews in a few months. Just dread getting those numbers back. Even though we have been accident free. No claims for another year. It will still go up! Going to Skool insurance guru @Sydnie Theisen for help here. I’m back in town next week sending you the info. Help! Lol
Factoring
I’ve been in business 12 years and have never factored anything. Those that do Factor What is the biggest motivator for you? Cash Flow? Collections? Your Credit? Anything else? Is it worth the percentage you pay out and that’s not hitting your books as part of your profit?

Interview Advice
Good afternoon everyone. My name is Chris Sonnek and I currently work at a 3PL in Minneapolis, MN. It's been my only job out of college. That means that my last interview was about 6 years ago. I have an interview on Wednesday for an in house position. Any last second tips/advice would be much appreciated!

My recommendation is just point out the experience you have gotten over the past 6 years and what that would mean to the company over the next 6!
