Ever written a description for a product? Congrats 🎊 You’ve written copy! I was talking to someone who runs her own Etsy shop just today. She asked if I could give her some feedback on her product descriptions. I happily obliged. One of the descriptions for her homemade soap was this: “Rain Shadow | soap | Shea butter | bar soap | hand crafted | palm free | zero-waste | vegan” This is a good description of the product but I told her that we should emphasize the benefit a little more. For example: the first few words are the most important since that’s what people see when they are scrolling through Etsy. Lead off by saying: “Shea Butter Bar Soap - Rain Shadow” That way, people see what the product is first rather than the name of the product. Then say something like: “Enjoy the luxury of our handcrafted, palm-free, zero-waste, vegan soap. Made with rich shea butter, this bar nourishes your skin while ensuring a sustainable option for your daily routine.” I just sent her this feedback so I’ll update y’all on what she says 👀😆 What do y’all think? If you were shopping for organic soaps on Etsy, would my revised copy catch your eye?!
