just refunded a high ticket client 💰 here's why:
it's okay to refund/ban clients you don't want to work with.
consider it an investment in your peace of mind, and a way to hone in your niche.
just for context: we only work with clients we know we can get results for.
typically, our best clients are Contentpreneurs who want to upload content and get high ticket clients, like Tori (video below).
and our entire goal with each client is to get a success story from them to prove that what we do actually works.
ideally $10,000/month within 90 days.
but sometimes it's less, and sometimes it's a lot more.
but after my first 1 on 1 session with this client today i knew I could not get him results.
his mindset was the exact opposite of my top clients.
so i straight up told him:
"dude I'm going to have to end this conversation now, send you back your money, and end this relationship."
he was surprised.
he asked me to explain why.
here's why i ended the relationship and refunded him:
1) this client could not answer simple questions like: "what do you need help with right now?"
instead he would laugh hysterically and say: "I don't f**king know!"
i asked him a few more simple questions like this and he kept giving me the same answer as above.
2) he openly (and proudly) refused to take responsibility for his actions.
he would say "it's on you to make sure this works, Ted, not me!"
3) he asked me for a guarantee that would say: "Make $20,000/month within 90 days despite not having an offer, not having an audience, and not having any online experience or your money back!"
he could not wrap his head around the fact that my team & I can't control what actions he takes.
and even if we could hypothetically control everything he did... we can't control what his prospects are going to do 😂 if people are going to pay him... that's on them. not him, and not us.
you can't manipulate people to pay you... and we can't manipulate people to pay our clients...
all we can do is make sure our clients have everything set up properly and professionally, and then help them perform to the best of their ability.
although we don't make income guarantees, what we do guarantee is this:
  • we guarantee our clients will be in a position to make $10,000/month within 2 days.
  • we guarantee we'll only work with clients we believe we can get results for.
  • we guarantee we'll give all of our clients the exact same level and duration of support we give our best clients...
  • we guarantee we will review our clients content and give them constructive feedback to improve on their next upload.
  • we guarantee we will build and role play our clients DM & Call scripts.
pro tip: don't sell to people who don't meet your dream client avatar criteria.

Saying no to the wrong client will save you time, money, and a lot of unhappiness 😅

Yup when anyone would ask me for a guarantee I would say they are the only guarantee. Well done for keeping your energy aligned.

I've done this before as well. You are the guide. They must do the digging. Some clients need therapy before moving onto coaching. Coaching is about being present and moving forward. If you can't establish this it's better to say no then deal with refund requests.

Good riddens. Kick those types of clients to the curb. Like cancer they can destroy your business.

100% some clients / projects you don't want to win. Even if you can drag them over the finish line and make some money. The amount of energy you burn could be so much better spent on a great client.

This is an example of someone who was Nescient ("To not know because knowledge was absent or unattainable") and then after your conversation became blatantly Ignorant ("To not know even though necessary information is present, because that information has been willfully REFUSED or DISREGARDED). .... (Wisdom from Mark Passio's lectures).

Great point. We rejected a lot of potential clients for the similiar reasons. We all have chance to choose with what kind of people we will work. The better relationship is, bigger chance is to win for both sides. that is a point of good ''fit''.
Very good post, thank you. DREAM CLIENT ❣️

That's something I haven't yet thought about. Interesting!

I think the best businesses know when to say no to someone... the truth is there are enough paying clients that actually want to succeed or are the right fit for who we want to help. It does't help the business or the person if we say yes to someone we know we can't help or who doesn't actually want the help.

The companies that say yes to everyone no matter if they're a good fit or not probably don't actually care about their clients.

The other truth is, sometimes it's just not a good fit and doesn't have to do with either person... it's a lot like dating.

I wish it would work in two ways. You refund also when the client tells he want a refund.
