Building New Habits
Finally got around to reading Atomic Habits this week. Similar to "The Compound Effect", but provided some great insights and details into building new habits.
Here's my favorite takeaway I got from the book:
Start small.
This could mean even just 1 or 2 minutes on a new habits.
If you're trying to read before bed, for example, just start with doing 1 minute.
If you're trying to learn a new language, just study for 1 minute a day.
If you can do it for a minute, you'll get into the habit of it while it's easy, and it won't appear daunting. Eventually, you can build up to 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 20 minutes a day.
Start small, start simple, and build from there.
