Content ideas for reels - are they OK?
Hi Squad,
After a while off due to a huge amount of short-deadlined moneymaking grind, I'm finally getting back to producing reels. I have some content ideas more or less mapped out - just please let me know if any of them are surely be hit-and-miss (I still need to figure out the good balance of "education and entertainment", and of "business vs video vs video in business" 😉
(Ofc. also feel free to use any of these ideas in your own reels, if they're okay and you want to 😉)
__________
1 - Video in business (probably the core topic, as it's straight up target- and service-oriented):
  • "Video is worth a thousand pictures"? But why? Not because things "move" on the screen, it's worth nothing without engaging content and a bit of story to relate with;
  • People often think video in business is just about commercials, but there's more to it (Brand story, testimonials, SM content etc);
  • If Hollywood had mentality of marketing agencies, all we'd watch in TV would be cartoons. Why animations may suck in establishing connection as compared to a "talking-head & b-roll" video;
__________
2 - Video-related (meant to establish us as experts in that specialized field, but while still resonating with the target market rather than just with other filmmakers):
  • When you think of "cinematic" videos, you may see this (some epic scenes shown, like Fast & Furious or Star Wars). But in reality, even talking heads may look like this (some news channel interview) vs this (high budget film talking head, like Netflix doc or some HBO show dialogue). It's about building proper mood and emotions with visuals, that can be used to resonate with audience more, etc.
  • Time as one of the crucial factors in productions - how we learned sometimes it's better to aim for efficiency than waste too much time setting perfect image. (relating to our own experience, past mistakes we've learned from etc. A bit risky, maybe).
  • Audio redundancy - the best way to make sure the client's audio is always captured. How it's worth to use at least two recording devices "just in case", unless you really have no time for that - so that our clients know their audio is always safe :)
__________
3 - Business related (not always with video-related aspect, but aimed at the companies we'd like to eventually niche in, eg. IT, to let them know we know their struggles):
  • Product naming done wrong - why Apple names its products in a memorable way (eg. iPhone, iPad), while the rest of the market assigns robot-like number sequences to them (like all these UGL76563IX computer models). Why an easy-to-remember product name may be a way to stand out from competition;
  • We seem to be taught to communicate with employers, but not with clients. How the message you're taught to give when looking for a full-time job (e.g. programming language stacks, etc) are worth nothing when looking for clients (they don't care if you code their app in NuxtJS or React, they want to have that done and working);
  • You should educate your audience: e.g. how many of your clients know no difference between a stock website template vs a custom-coded one; you won't get them to buy a better service unless you educate them on the details first.
__________
Let me know what you think! 😉
