Some thoughts today…
There’s nothing worse than a disordered work environment.
That’s why some of the most successful people took the time to develop habits and systems.
They took the structure of things seriously.
“Life without Design is Erratic” as Seneca famously said.
We forget the importance of order because of this loud and crazed world.
But making order from chaos is the path to obtaining freedom.
Our minds are the most powerful tools we have, so taking care of it is vital if we want to achieve our
goals.
But there is also a responsibility that I see no one talking about that comes along with work.
Clients aren’t just a money giver for us, but a responsibility.
We provide value to them but also take care of their problems, that’s why we have to take care of our problems first.
If everything in your life is dependent on willpower and a constant fight to stay focused, of course, you're going to get burned out…
…That is why you have to build systems in place.
Build the systems and understand consistency, but don’t mistake these things for rigidity.
Be fluid in writing your copy.
It reminds me of a story I heard in class. There was a Roman student who needed help, so he went to Epictetus for guidance,
But surprisingly the teacher didn’t have an answer for him.
The student wasn’t having it.
He yelled, “You have to tell me what I should do!”
Then Epictetus said, “It would be better if you asked me to help make you adaptable to circumstances.”
That’s what we are as copywriters.
We’re adaptable to anything that clients need.
That’s what sets us apart from everyone else.
Anyway, just some things I was going over this morning.
Peace.
