How to Post in Freight Skool
Please don't make posts in Skool advertising yourself or your company. These will get deleted and you will be churned from the group. Instead...post something educational about what you do and how you do it. Let the community get to know you and your value by sharing some good information about the subject you know a lot about. This will help you build credentials in the community. Telling people what you do without sharing knowledge of how you do it, is just trying to sell rather than educate and there are many other platforms and ways to advertise and sell, this isn't one of them. Make sure Freight Skool is only used for tips and knowledge sharing with the community. Thanks

Very well said. The act of sharing valuable knowledge is one of the best ways to "sell" yourself anyway! If during that process someone likes what they see, THAT is when a connection gets made.
Broker Carrier Tension Post
@Ed Burns shared great comment today on ideal freight market. We may not ever see the ideal market again until we can resolve the tensions between carriers and brokers. Understand Fraud and week market are driving most of the tensions. This network on SKOOL may all be professional and working to collaborate, we need to drive the message through all carriers & brokers. I have been engaging with OOIDA to assist with the tensions. They represent over 100,000 O/O in the USA alone. All of you can make a difference by valuing each other, all the brokers here KNOW, if you bought it a truck brought it. Be the difference all, the industry will benefit and all of us on this network. Believe this may be a TED talk, not really sure what a TED talk is? If I am wrong trust the team here will set me straight. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/bill-robinson-00476a2_supplyanddemand-carriers-brokers-activity-7118626087340822528-aEbG?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

It just really isn't difficult to conduct good business. In all actuality, it seems to be even more difficult to be a scumbag! The lack of empathy today is prolific in all walks of life now and makes a lot of things difficult, not just the logistics industry. @Steven Tittle You need to have compassion for yourself when having those discussions with your carrier/broker side. Both of you are hard workers and need to understand the value yous bring to the table!
Broker Value
Other than providing a truck and a rate: how else can a broker provide value to a customer? I am about 90 days into my tenure and so far I’ve noticed that some of my customers are very transactional. They give me regular, repeat OTR volume but they do not wish to discuss how else I may be able to provide value outside of well.. a truck and a rate. Any best practices to disrupt this behavior pattern and get past this? Or is this merely how some customers are? For example I’m noticing OB TL rates in the southeast are increasing, but the customer doesn’t want to put time on the books to listen to some of my ideas on how I may be able to mitigate their exposure to spot market volatility.

You have to know your audience. Some points of contact within the same company speak different languages. Your savings, translated to a percentage, speak volumes to corporate, but the picture topic speaks louder to warehouse management. Communication is what bridges all gaps though.
DOWN WITH EV's!!!!
By now y'all know how ANTI-EV I AM but I am also a huge proponent of a viable & sustainable option to diesel trucks. One of these options I'd like to see to continue to evolve & hopefully take the forefront are the CNG/LNG engines. Unfortunately our Govt. isn't throwing billions of tax incentives & touting it like they do the alternatives so it's mainly up to the private sector. Yes we face some of the same issues like lack of fueling stations & the costs of these tractors are a little high, however the push for CNG is nothing new & there are already many refueling stations already built with more planned. Now the cost being a 1/3-1/2 of what an EV does mean a savings. Not to mention that current diesel engines can be retrofitted for CNG further cutting your costs VS buying new. https://www.ccjdigital.com/alternative-power/natural-gas/article/15671115/cummins-x15n-raises-the-profile-of-natural-gas

@Steven Tittle Waste disposal AND other states following California? EV tax because they are missing out on fuel tax? Seems like a lot of stick and no carrot.
Bye Bye non-competes
Exciting news! (a few days late) On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took a significant step forward by issuing a final rule that bans nearly all non-compete agreements. This decision marks a crucial milestone in promoting fair competition and empowering individuals in the workforce. Non-compete agreements have long been a topic of discussion, and this ruling reflects a positive shift towards creating a more open and competitive business environment. By limiting the use of restrictive agreements, employees will have more freedom to pursue opportunities and contribute their skills and talents across various sectors. As we move forward, let's embrace this change and continue to foster innovation and collaboration in our industries. Together, we can create a more dynamic and inclusive landscape for businesses and professionals alike. #FTC #NonCompete #FairCompetition #Innovation #Empowerment

I'm thinking that the main aspect of this is going to stick, but the tertiary aspects will be challenged. It is great to think about the beneficial impacts of this, but often overlooked are the growing pains associated with a large change such as this. For a short term, the landscape will resemble the Wild West as un-accounted for situations are remediated in the courts creating new precedents. This is going to be crazy for some time.
