I have to admit it. Half of what we strive for and succeed at is mindset. It is the way we think of and about something. Taking action requires a certain kind of thinking. You can make all manner of excuses. I have been doing this all week and this evening I told myself, enough. I need to ACT if I have to make this work. So I brushed off my fear and finished a task I had been putting off blaming it on my low mood. Moods can be unpredictable, much like the weather in England. But habits are something that we can set and follow. Quickly they become routine and then a regular occurrence. For example, did you know that you could, starting from today, sit with your child in the morning before school and finish a short vocabulary task? It can be playing the vocab game or doing a 10-minute exercise in VR or NVR. Pick your time, pick your task and do it in 10 minutes. It is what we do that matters, more than what we think we must do. When it is done, the feeling of accomplishment trumps the feeling of procrastination, doubt and even fear. That is why we are having the comprehension challenge at 5:30 pm every day starting on Monday next week. It will be a short 30-minute session with 10-minute work to be completed before the second day and uploaded on our daily Challenge thread. I have sent all those who registered for the challenge an email explaining the details. Let's do this! What's the Plan? Day 1- Making Inferences from Visual Cues Day 2- Text Treasure Hunt- Sequencing, Inferencing Day 3- Comprehension Secrets with Sheena Ager- Inference, Vocabulary Day 4- Storytelling- Summarising, Discovering Day 5- Getting familiar with Classic Tales
