🥳 100 members in free community in under 30 days
I started my free community on the 17th of June and today I woke up to more than a hundred members...finally in the 3 figure club haha. I'm happy to experience this growth but what's more important for me is to see that 81% of members were active 🗣️ The way I grew my free group was with 2-step posts on instagram, i.e. I post daily reels with the cta to read the caption and then the cta in the caption is to comment to receive access to my free lead magnet (which is a link to my free community). In terms of engagement, I publish a post every single day inside my free community with a question and poll so that it is easier for members to engage and share their thoughts. Also, I did not let everyone into my free group. I made sure that they had a profile photo, short bio, and answered the membership questions. In my mind, if someone isn't willing to upload a photo and add a short bio then they are unlikely to be anything other than a lurker in the group (or a bot). Next steps for me are to continue growing and nurturing my free community while getting an evergreen offer ready for my paid community 🤑 P.S. I learned about 2-step posts from @Andrew Kirby and he also made a post about this strategy on this post in the games community.

I'm almost at 200, but gonna remove everyone who's been inactive for 30 days every 30 days. To keep it high quality. So soon, we'll be down to about 150 again 🤗

Not really valuable when the goal is to get the community to post, not yourself :)
❤️🔑 Make People Super Happy
I've been rewatching Sam Ovens' YouTube channel lately. I first saw one of his videos 5 years ago and I still get a lot out of them. Watch them here. His big-picture strategy for growing a community is pure gold. Here's the plan: - Focus on your people ⤸ - Listen to their feedback ⤸ - Give them what they want ⤸ - Make people super happy ⤸ - They tell others about your community ⤸ - You experience the best kind of growth I wanted to share this in case you're new here or need a reminder. *Source (Drop your fav gif if you think this video is a masterpiece. Shhh! 🤫) It's so simple and powerful it sounds obvious, right? But sometimes it's easy to get distracted by something shiny. When we make word of mouth our foundation, our communities grow tall and strong. When we care, people notice. What do you think? Is this your priority right now? Pce, Faro

Hitting first 150 members - by imitating the GOATs 🐐
Ever heard of 'Imitation Learning'? No? It's how kids learn. The MOST NATURAL way to learn. But: As grown-ups, we forget how it's done. It's something I've practiced for years (to learn anything) and I now use it to grow my community on Skool. You can use it too! The core idea is this: 1. Choose what you want to create (like 'write a description for my About page') 2. Find an example you love (I loved @Antonio Centenos structure) 3. Rewrite it or let ChatGPT do it (make sure it aligns 100% to your topic) And then reflect on what you loved about it: - Was it the bulleted, easy-to-overview layout? - Was it the direct, almost demanding, tone of voice? - Was it something in the copywriting? This is where the learning happens! Remember: You want to imitate the core concept - not the concrete output. You want to imitate the skeleton - not the flesh and bones. You want to imitate to learn - not to copy mindlessly. This is how I learn. (Fast!) I find a GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). And imitate something they've done. I've used it to make better YouTube videos. (Imitated MKBHD) I've used it to write better landing pages. (Imitated Pat Flynn) I've used it to design better ebooks. (Imitated Chris Ducker) Copywriting. Video. Design. Layout. Narration. Animation. Music. Applies to pretty much everything creative. Added benefit: It's super fun to sit down with something concrete and figure out how to recreate it. You learn through your "hands": create -> then study. It's the opposite of what we normally do: study -> then create. Oh, and for the possible haters: "Everything is a remix," so don't kill me over the fact that I learned by imitating others. Watch the documentary (it's great). Onwards and upwards, dear friend! 🚀
