All my blueprint members, here's another gem dropped by none other than Jack. On our last call together, Jack briefly brought up a point that probably sounds very simple to the vets of this industry, but is so crucial to pick up for those who are getting started: You are having a CONVERSATION with the person in front of you. Not an interview. Read that again. And a third time if you need to. In these initial role plays, I'm noticing a lot of us sticking to the script too much and not being willing to step out and really engage heart to heart with the prospect. This can work for certain situations, but as Iain mentioned in the blueprint, this works for certain situations until the prospect goes off script, and then you're fucked since you've been running on autopilot, and that's when you realize this has been an interview the whole time. Charlie & I had arguably our best session yet yesterday, and it was down to no other reason than the fact that we had a genuine conversation about the issues & pain points at hand. Just about everything else improved as a result: finding his words, his body language, eye contact, and most importantly imo, his tone. Sounds simple, but this, y'all, is the mouthwash we need to get rid of commission breath.
