Mixed Cushions🤔
I’m thinking of mixing the hardness of my cushions on a few of my plates. Have you tried it? If so, what plate, hardness and do you add the most soft to the top or the bottom?

Share how much you love this group!
We have grown so much since the beginning of this group, and I feel like the energy here is unmatched in the skate world, so thank you all! But this is just my opinion. I want to hear what you guys think. So, if you feel you have gotten anything useful from being here, please don't be afraid to share. I would love to hear: 1. What is your favorite part about this group? 2. What is the biggest problem this group has solved for you in your skate journey?

I love the skate community feeling (all that has been described) at my fingertips and sharing all the information I have accumulated over the last 11 years. Everyone learns differently and engages differently with humans and this offers a place to be authentic and get support. KJ is talented and he wants to share his skills and experiece without pretence. He wants to build actual community! That is RARE! Problems are navigating sharing and seeing video and pics. I want to have a preview of pics and vids in the post! Can we trouble shoot this? some folks have managed! Tell us your secret!!
Roller Jam week 1 SPOILERS
I figured we could have a discussion about the things we see on the show here. I’m really interested to see what stood out to everyone. By far the most impressive routine to me was the winning team’s performance. The artistic routine to me was just okay, and although the sack of potatoes on the head spin was pretty amazing,, overall I didn’t get swept up in it and I think they played it way too safe. I think they should have been eliminated TBH. The guys that barely have time to practice due to jobs and family have so much raw talent. I was sad to see them go, but I don’t think they were ready for this level of competition. I love the all girl team from Venice! They seem to lack a little self confidence at times but those alpha kicks and floor work, wowza! What did you all notice?

It reminded me of SYTYCD. The shape of the stage seemed hard to choreograph. I liked when the winners who already perform in Vegas said they picked You cant touch this for obvious reasons. The crew that went home were defintely raw talent! New episode tomorrow!!!!
Thoughts on butt pads?
I know we all have to practice our falls to get better. But has anybody here ever had a traumatic experience falling on your tailbone or is it not as bad as I think it is? Haha I’ve hurt my tailbone where it hurts to sit for long periods of time & then getting up from that position, but that’s the worst it has gotten so far which is pretty tolerable. I’m just scared it could be worse. I am pretty short in height so practicing falls hasn’t been easy & I feeeeel like my height plays a factor but I dk. I’ve been wearing a booty pad when I practice in private. Does anybody else do this, or has falling on your butt while practicing falls hasn’t been thattt bad?

you have to practice "picking a cheek". if you fall back, turn to land on the juice of your bottom. In derby skills class it was the first thing we drilled. They said get low and pick a cheek.... They also taught us to knee tap if you start to fall forward...get low and tap one knee down. The emphasized not landing on your tailbone or on your skate. If you fall onto your skate you will either really hurt your ankle or your pubic bone " 'gina shiner" One of my mama friends swore by her but pad shorts but I have also heard that they dont always protect your tailbone if you land straight on it. #pickacheek 🤓🫢😉😎

Toe stoppers
Hi all - I'm a very beginner skater but super pleased I'm managing to get balance now and feel more confident to try new moves. I've been following the 100 days of skate school but some of the moves I can't do with big toe stoppers as it immediately inhibits! Question is - how do you know it's right to move on to the button type ones and will I suddenly panic to stop?!! Are there intermediate options?
