Rink Rabbit Bag is awesome for traveling with skates if you don’t want to carry them on a leash. Detroit and the ‘burbs have an enormous number of good rinks with great floors. Unfortunately I live in Omaha for the next three years where there isn’t jack.
More Confidence on a Softer Wheel😬
Anyone else making small wins on a softer wheel? I can’t be alone out here too scared to work on pivots using my harder and slicker wheels😄. Granted my garage cement floor and Radar Energy are a not so sticky marriage. This is my gradual win people. It’s all I got so far this week😄🙆🏾‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️

@Ashley Villalobos the lower the number the softer the wheel. So an outdoor wheel might be 78-90ishA, indoor wheels 92A plus. There is another rating system for artistic wheels that are slicker than snot but don’t worry about those yet. Beginners IMO do a little better with a softer wheel because they are grippier. I am very comfortable on 101A wheels but I’ve gone to a 95 A wheel again to master the heel and toe work I’m doing without worrying about falling on my face as much.

@Ashley Villalobos as far as what’s best for rhythm skating, it varies. I’d recommend you get comfortable on skates in general before trying to increase the hardness/slip of your wheels too quickly.
Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace Las Vegas
Is anyone going to Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace opening in Las Vegas this Saturday? I know it’s a long shot but I thought I’d see if anyone from the community is going too.

I’m not going to the opening. It planning a visit in December, just waiting to hear from Deb when she will be there so I can skate with her again.

KJ is it an issue if I can only attend Friday’s session? I’d like to do this but don’t want to be lost. I MIGHT be able to be on tonight and will be if I can.

Mohawk turn
Hey all, first post here. I started skating about 2 years ago as an adult. And I think I'm making pretty good progress. I can skate confidently forward and backwards. I can balance on one foot forwards and backwards and even around the turns now I can balance to one foot. My biggest challenge right now is turning around forward to backward without stopping. I've gone to several adult classes here locally. And several instructions have tried to walk me through the Mohawk turn and I am still having trouble doing it correctly. If I slow down enough I can fake it and make it work but I'm not able to confidently do it at regular skating speed. I know there are several videos online but just curious if anyone has any tips on mastering this simple looking turn.
