So when I visit my family in Michigan I always hit the rink. I practice new things on the side, outside of the main floor, and then I head to the middle of the floor when I feel I have them down enough to practice in traffic. You should feel like the middle of the floor is a safe space because it is. Also, you should just take a chance and talk to other people in the middle—telling someone you love the way they skate or ask if they have tips on a move They’re doing that you want to emulate—it goes a long way. The first time someone told me they were watching me skate and wanted to look like me was a real highlight in my skating journey.

Great idea! I’m @cat_named_zeus I post mimimal skating content on my page, mostly in stories but I do have a very beginning post in there which is pretty funny to watch (I’m basically encased in protective gear including helmet in a small garage space, haha).
