Ai generated damages on items
hi I sell on eBay and today a buyer reported a return and said an item that I sent to them was damaged when they got the item .. I steamed the shirt for them and shipped it to them in excellent condition . When they took their photo it showed a burn hole in the front of the shirt and back .. unbelievable! Using my brain I really think this photo has be altered using ai tool(photo that the customer sent back saying he received the shirt with a hole ) . eBay wants me to except their request and refund them . I’m trying to make people beware of scammers like this . I asked to see a video of the shirt and different angles they haven’t responded. I think the scammer get a win by doing this because they think I don’t want the item back (which if it’s ai generated it will expose it ) .. the two first photos is the customers photos … and the rest are my initial photos I took to sell on eBay .. (the very last one is ai generated but I only had the free version so it couldn’t make it smaller and darker for me to show you EXAMPLE ONLY !!!! ON HOW the scammer can use ai to make it look like you sent a damage item !!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow that's pretty sad and it does look like a fake picture. Kei J don't get discouraged. There are all kinds of people in this old world and there always will be. If Ebay is saying accept the return, you need to do so because you don't want to harm your account. But don't refund the buyer until you receive your item back. You do not owe any amount of refund until you receive your item back. If they do return it, accept your losses with a refund to them or contact eBay for help on the matter, that's up to you. After that, you have the option of blocking this buyer from ever buying from you again. Ebay has a block buyers feature and it's worth its weight in gold to get rid of bad buyers! Scammers hit new sellers hard and fast. They are looking for you, but eBay is well aware of them especially when you report these type situations and if they are found to be scammers they will remove them from the platform forever. Hang in there. There's a lot to reselling and even the most experienced resellers get hit from time to time. Just remember to make your money on the buy in so that you don't lose a great deal when things do happen to you. I hope this helps and encourages you.

@Kei J I understand that you want to protect yourself but I'm not sure uv light will help. eBay requires all sellers to accept returns regardless of the situation. If a buyer wants to return an item, they can, uv marking won't prevent the return. But, eBay has protection in place for all sellers and you are not required to issue a refund until your item is returned to you. At that point, if there is an issue, you may want to reach out to eBay. Please be sure to read ALL of the eBay policies and all the articles that eBay offers you, read them until you understand them. They are your very best help and will answer a lot of the questions and concerns you have.
Time to purchase resolution items
Get ready for the New Year by picking up workout/exercise clothing and shoes. Those resolutions will be making you some cool cash if you are ready! If you're not into clothing then look for exercise equipment, self-improvement books, weight loss and healthy eating cookbooks and whatever else you can think of that people may make resolutions about!

eBay item specifics
Do any of you guys create your own item specific description on eBay if you don’t find it in the drop down menu?

@Red West I don't tend to believe that because where would eBay get the descriptive words without sellers using them. In fact, if a word is used enough, they will add it. I know that you can even request descriptive words be added and if they see them being used enough, they will. However, I agree with you in the aspect that it's better to use the drop down menu for descriptive words and not add if you can. It is best. But I've never had an item "skipped" over for using my own descriptive word(s).
Inventory Audit Coming in November
I am planning a full inventory audit in November. I will take a Saturday and pull boxes of inventory and match contents to the 4 platforms we sell on. I am expecting to find items not listed, items listed but missing from inventory and items that need to be completely redone. In preparation for this I spent tonight consolidating inventory. We emptied a large number of boxes to make room for more items. Of course I am going to keep listing daily. But we are much leaner on our shelves for now. Any advice on doing inventory?

@Rick Metcalf I need to cull also. I have items I know need to go! However, I am a long tail seller because I love selling vintage clothing and I have to wait on my buyer. I don’t mind that at all when I know it is a high quality item with features that are amazing and hard to find. Yep! That’s me, I’m a wait for it reseller. But, I do have a few low quality crap items that just need to be kicked out completely.
Category Matters!
Thought I would try a little experiment this morning. Something I've been thinking about lately. I've been wondering how much of a difference category makes to STR on a certain item. I decided to try this morning with a pair of Nike Golf Pants. In the eBay search, I typed in "Nike Golf", then calculated STR for a few different categories. Here's what I found: Mens > Pants - 37.8% STR Sporting Goods > Golf > Mens Clothing - 39.7% Mens > Activewear > Pants - 42.8% I think this is pretty significant! 5% difference in STR depending on just category.

Retired bookkeeper hoping to sell full time on eBay and supplement my income. I’ve been part time for 3 years but never have made very much with it.
