What do you wear!?
Curious.... what kind of skates everyone has!? I just got into skating a few months ago and got a pair of Roller Derby skates at our local sporting goods shop. I didn't want to spend alot on starter skates because I have a habit of deciding to learn something new and not following through. I fell in love. Upgraded to Sure--Grip Fame wheels and now am impatiently waiting for my size to come back in-stock of the VNLA Luna skates.

@Knejie Allen thanks! I started out with a cheap pair bc I wanted the ability to practice at home..... and I have a tendency to be like 'oh that's cool I want to learn that' and then I get discouraged and give up. We don't have a skate shop near us to browse around either unfortunately. Skating isn't very big in my area. 😮‍💨

@Isabel Mitzen that's my problem too. Skate shops are few and far between.
What’s your Why? What’s your skate goals. What motivates you?
Hey guys 👋🏾. I wanted to ask what’s your reason for why you are skating? What keeps you coming back? What skate goals do you have for yourself? I’ll start. I remember I use to just go to the skate rink and watch the skaters wishing I could do that. They looked so majestic, so skilled, so fun, so kool. That’s my why. I wanted to be like them on skates. I bought myself some skates and would try here and there. I took a couple of skate classes to learn technique (I still go). I saw with consistency I was improving. I felt good in my body. I felt good in my soul. Clubs and lounges Never really did it for me. But I enjoyed skating to the music and the skate community that I’m getting to be apart of helps me keep coming back. I made my self a promise that I would keep learning and even dedicated days of the week to skate no matter the thoughts or fears that popped into my head. The promise I made to myself is what keeps me going. The peace of mind and seeing my progress keeps me coming back. As I continue to learn more about skating I realized there are skate communities all over the US and internationally. One of my goals is to travel to more US cities and now I want travel and skate in those cities. Another one of my goals is to build community. 🛼

I enjoy crafty things. But as a full time working mom by the time I had time to do something in my down time, I never wanted to drag the stuff out and create another mess to clean up. We got invited to a birthday skate party about a year ago and it was a quick hell no from me after falling so many times. But the kids loved it. So I bought a cheap pair of skates to learn outside of the rink. I was afraid it'd end up being another hobby I never had time for. But once I stopped looking like a baby giraffe trying to get my legs under me I began to thoroughly enjoy it. Now I have a hobby that all the kids love too. My goal is to some day "look so majestic, so skilled, so fun, so kool." To help inspire others to take the leap and start skating.
Drilling jam move 4- progress one week on!
Over the week I’ve been progressing with the move4 from day44 of 100 ( stationary zero) in to this by incorporating a pivot turn. Drilling in small spaces has really forced me to tune my control , balance speed and bounce! I’m learning how to rotate and level up in my small place. It’s been difficult to adjust to movement and rhythm. 🤣 it is starting to feel more natural. What do you do with your arm and hands, I seem to hold my hand in a weird pointy finger pose!Ahhhh

Looking good
Outdoor vs. Indoor
What’s everyone’s thoughts on indoor skating versus outdoor skating? You all have a preference? I definitely LOVE both, each have pros and cons. Curious about what people think.

Indoor. Because I enjoy watching all the other skaters.
Nutrition Guide 🥑
I made this nutrition guide to share with my SK8 fam. This is meant to be a simple resource for improving your overall health and fitness so that you feel like your best self when it's time to lace up. This guide was inspired by my personal fitness and SK8 journey, as well as my time in the Air Force as a Chef and fitness Specialist. Learning over time, the different foods to stay healthy and get some gains. I will release a video about this today for Day 54 of 100-day Skate School. Feel free to comment any thoughts or feedback!🕺🏽
