Skate Diagram Terms and Abbreviations
It's time to level up and I've decided to try spinning for the first time. I've heard that the heel toe is a great beginner spin, so I've been dissecting a few turorials so I can start practicing at the rink. Instructions for spinning toward the left are that you are on your Left Toe and Right Back wheels. So as I'm watching one tutorial the instructor says that if you break it down it's really a combination of two spins, a LIB and a RIF. Let me tell you, I was like wait, what? I thought we were on the left toes, how is it I need to put pressure on the left inner back wheels?? I was so confused. The abbreviation didn't match the image I had created in my head for how to do the turn (drawing), and it took me a few minutes to work out that the abbreviation is for L-which leg I- which edge B-which DIRECTION (not which wheel to put pressure on) Anyway... That led me down a rabbit hole for skate dance diagram terms and abbreviations and I thought I'd share. Sometimes it really is the littlest things that trip us up😅 https://skatedancediagrams.weebly.com/diagram-terms--abreviations.html
