30 Day Skate Challenge
Who's down to do a 30 day skate challenge? 30 days of putting your skates on for at least 15-20min and practicing something/anything, even if it's just straight up balancing drills. It's Monday, and there's no day like Today to start something new. I'm working a 10 hr shift but brought my skates into work to put on during my lunch hr. If anyone would like to do their own 30 Day Challenge, let me know. I would love to share some accountability and encouragement 🙏😊

@Tiffany Chin Thanks for sharing this Tiff, I think its great insight, this idea of risk vs reward when you do something this physical (risk injury on copping, and mental blocks created from said injuries). And air on purpose made me laugh, just cus I could see myself getting air "not on prurpose" and hearing "Dumb ways to die" in my head as I fly off into the sunset. Happy skating friend : )
Does This Help My Small Space Skaters?
I made a video showing some small space moves you can do or some variation of them for all my living room rollers. Click here to watch the small space drills video in the classroom <-- Btw I measured a 4x4 space for this. I had a few say these are too advanced 😆 So I'm not sure if this is actually useful to yall. Just lmk.

Its a little bit of both, difficult for some, on par for others. I think the value comes more from illustrating that practice can happen in a tight space and still be meaningful. Would be good to maybe take the fundamentals and show how we can use small spaces skating to enforce those skills....or something. Choreo in a small space could be fun. Ok.all happy skating!
Wheels type
Hey guys! I was also wondering , I have a Chaya with ourdoor wheels, so it's a bit bulk and too grip. Is there any wheels type where would suits both smooth areas and outdoors? What you guys recommend? Also I'm practising drills

@Liz Fillmore This! Liz I agree, I got the Funday wheels like what....3 weeks ago and they have been great for both outdoor and park skating, however I did try them at the rink and where they were rolling great, they area very agile wheel with a very narrow contact patch like 13mm I think also with a rounded outter edge v's a square outter edge caused a little learning curve at the rink. But all in all having a blast with these
Lacing the skates
I have a well-worn pair of Chaya vegan skates that I always lace to the top and a new pair of Riedell 120s that I am still breaking in. I’ve been wrapping the laces around the Riedell boot rather than lacing them up to the top (meaning over the hooks) because the skates are still quite stiff. But I was wondering: is there a reason to lace or not lace to the top on roller skates? Does it depend on the skating style? Or the “look” you want to have? Thanks!

Yeah, im also a beginner, and much of what's being said here feels like great advice. Personal preference (gained through experimentation) confidence in your skating style and just listening to your body all play a part, really no right or wrong. I started laced all the way up in my Moxi Lollys, which already have lower ankle support than a harder boot and started lacing lower and have found a happy spot half way up. BUT for park and outdoor, I tend to lace up high again if im doing anything where my ankle is telling me to get F****d. Happy skating!
