Does This Help My Small Space Skaters?
I made a video showing some small space moves you can do or some variation of them for all my living room rollers. Click here to watch the small space drills video in the classroom <-- Btw I measured a 4x4 space for this. I had a few say these are too advanced 😆 So I'm not sure if this is actually useful to yall. Just lmk.

@Paula Pride and to me! Can't figure out how to learn these without getting injured.

@Tereza Toledo I saw someone at the rink practicing his moves on the carpet. That had never occurred to me. So I'll try practicing off skates and on a yoga mat before I try something challenging on the rink. Thanks for the suggestion.
Lacing the skates
I have a well-worn pair of Chaya vegan skates that I always lace to the top and a new pair of Riedell 120s that I am still breaking in. I’ve been wrapping the laces around the Riedell boot rather than lacing them up to the top (meaning over the hooks) because the skates are still quite stiff. But I was wondering: is there a reason to lace or not lace to the top on roller skates? Does it depend on the skating style? Or the “look” you want to have? Thanks!

@Paula Pride thanks! I have the Riedell 120... med-low?! They feel super stiff compared to my Chaya vegan boots. I'm glad I didn't splurge on the 3200. I will have to toughen up before I earn those.

Pads?
Are we wearing them? Are we not? I usually use wrist guards. I need some new ones though. Does any one have recs for some cute ones?

I wore 187 Killer Pads wrist guards for a long time, but a skater I know and trust suggested I invest in these Demon United wrist guards (https://demon-united.com/products/flexmeter-wrist-guard-double-sided-d3o), which were designed by a wrist surgeon. They have a plastic shield on the palm side so that you slide across the surface if you fall and they spread the force from the wrist up to the forearm. They are not cheap but neither is surgery if you break your wrist! I also wear Mizuno volleyball knee pads (Amazon: https://a.co/d/fedfbHA). I’ve never fallen on my knees since wearing them so I can’t attest to their protection, but I’ve tried bulky knee pads (187 Killer Pads again) and since I’m very short, they really interfere with my ability to do crossovers, which is why I decided to risk it and go with thinner pads.

@Tiffany Chin I bought them too! Hope I never need to put them to the test 😊
Skate Choreography🕺🏽
I am considering taking some time to do some fresh choreography weekly for you all to learn. Would you be interested in that? I could post it every week, and we could all share our attempts at the choreography as a community challenge💛🔥 So we can see each other skate and hype each other up! Would you enjoy learning this and sharing your choreo if I did that? Comment what you would like to see me put out instead if you are not interested in this. All feedback is welcome and encouraged!

Stiff-legged, gray-haired old man trying to learn to dance on skates. If I can do it, anyone can!
