Awesome 1:1 OC Session
Just wanted to give some feedback after my 1:1 OC session with Tek. The challenges I face with my paddling is how to make the proper adjustments to keep increasing my paddling strength. I don’t think I am aware of what I am doing or what to do to get stronger. I chose TLC because it’s an affordable way to get direct feedback and encouragement to train. I joined DW because I knew I needed the training program to support my goals. TLC is a nice complement for additional training off the water or on my own. I am starting to take some initiative on doing more training and i believe i am feeling stronger. I also feel more confident to encourage others. TLC and Tek have a way on giving good constructive feedback and encouragement. He easily spots issues and is able to explain it in a way that your brain can process. I encourage anyone who needs some extra support to join TLC. It’s a way to listen to others and get support from others. There is a lot of information available to beginner all the way to advance paddlers.

2024.12.4: WOW on the pErg
2 weeks ago this WOW felt intimidating but I gave it a shot since I already did last weeks WOW and I had a little extra time this AM. Plus I didn’t get much paddling in yesterday since I was steering. @Steve Chu the perg can definitely help with those things you are trying to correct on the water. Happy with the job I did below.

I would like to improve my OC TT and perg BM this year. Last year it was easy to trim down after the pandemic 15 plus by consistently increasing my paddling activity. Now I would like to build that strength
Mini Tek-Talk - 12/29/24 - Strategies for Paddlers
Which of the three strategies speak to you the most? Share it in the comment below and give a like/support to each other. I’ve been paddling for over 15 years. I've spent over 10 years helping develop paddlers and grow a team organically. Now I’m boiling all that experience into a blueprint to speed up your training and learning. There's many reasons why someone joins a paddling team, whether dragon boat or outrigger. There are many reasons why someone joins any hobby-based team. I started TLC with the mission of developing community-focused paddlers and leaders. I hope to inspire people who start off as paddlers to then use what they've learned to become leaders in their communities, because that's exactly how I got to where I am today. I started paddling in high school in 2006, so it's been close to 20 years of paddling now. I started off as a paddler my first year and soon became the captain and eventually the coach of my university team and then later my adult team. I have made many mistakes along the way, as well as successes. Today I wanted to briefly share strategies that I have for people to develop as new or intermediate paddlers. 1 - Figure out your why Why are you paddling? What is the reason why you come out to paddle and train? What do you enjoy the most about the paddling? This will help us anchor why we show up time and time again. In order for you to develop as a paddler, you need to look within and figure out why you do it. Note that this can change over time, but it's still important to dial down and figure out what drives you. 2 - Figure out your short term and long term goals I think it's safe to say that everyone wants to make improvements and want to get better. That should be the general direction that you are heading in. However, often times the biggest challenge is actually focusing. When we have a goal that is generally well-intentioned but no actual steps, we don't end up going anywhere. Depending on what is most salient to you at this time, write down 1-2 short terms goals and write down 1-2 long term goals. At this time, they don't need to necessarily connect but do write them down. It will help you focus on how you want to improve and take the next step.

I like the part about setting smaller goals. We do all get lost in the big getting better. Success can be incremental. Celebrate along the journey.
Wow - last one of the year
Hey this week WOW was quite doable on the perg. I believe I don’t feel as much pressure in right because I don’t drive down as hard or my left arm is just weaker. When I watched the watt number that helped me keep more pressure. But still needs work.

I started on my left and then alternated. That’s why 1st 3 min piece was stronger. I did buy a Hrm and havent figured how to hook it up. I probably don’t really understand all the displays and what I am looking at.
