My swimming journey so far
Hello to the Caribe Swim Community and a big shout out to coaches Jeff and Meredith! My name is Ijeoma and I joined the community to get help with my swimming technique and to build endurance.Having been swimming and taking regular lessons for three years, I do swim the whole length of most standard 25m to 30m pools but I have not been able to do more than one lap without taking a short rest which I suspect to be a mind over matter issue. I found Jeff’s YT video on shallow water swimming quite revealing particularly the segment about complete relaxation. I still have a fair way to go towards completely mastering my fear of deep water and hoping to enrol on the paid membership by taking advantage of the early bird discount. NB. I cancelled the book purchase I made 4 days ago and hope you will let me know how refund will work. Many thanks

@Coach Jeff! I thought you were focusing solely on beginners! Are you saying that there will be learning resources for people like me who are not beginners; that there will be something for everyone no matter their stage of learning?

Hi Coaches Jeff and Meredith It seems your primary focus is on beginner swimmers and this is great! May I, however, ask you to clarify if your swim school will also cater to people who are further on in their swimming journey such as those who are comfortable in water and can swim but need to improve their technique for better mastery?

Ongoing learning
Hi Coaches Jeff and Meredith I’m looking forward to learning from your team how to practically reconcile the seemingly opposing concepts of holding in and tensing the tummy for a correct streamline, with that of correctly taking a full breath/ box breathing/ diaphragmatic breathing. I’m very relaxed in the pool but finding the practice if the correct breathing technique, as per your curriculum, a challenge.

@ coach Jeff, the type of support I need will include any advice or tips to help me swim more than one freestyle lap of the pool without feeling the need for a rest. Same applies with breaststroke which I find even more tiring. Any tips on how I can overcome this type of inertia, coach?

@coach Jeff Wood Regarding your first question, I have watched and can claim to have completed your shallow water mastery course. The only things I’m still trying to work on are the log roll from a stationary position (I get too much water in my face and nose) and the back float which I have not managed to maintain for more than 5 secs before my legs start sinking. Regarding question two, I usually practise alone in a public pool but will try to explore how to get real time recordings of me swimming during one of my sessions. Will share this when available. Thank you!

My goal is to feel completely safe in water and though not a beginner, I have some way to go to attaining that dream 😃
