Who else here gardens? I'd love to see pics! How does your garden grow? đ Our garden has been more abundant than we expected here at this time of year and have been harvesting our greens, etc. via thinning things (my favorite way). I've been eating high quality greens for decades, growing many of those directly, however I have to say these greens are the best greens I've ever had -- and Darrel said the same. Amazing! I would have thought otherwise given the weather extremes and critters the plants are subjected to sometimes, not to mention the high pH. Still, we're not keeping up (even though I eat over 2 pounds of greens from the garden daily, and Darrel eats some too), so today we decided to go to a place people sell things (like a flea market) and sell some of it. It was kinda' fun, brings back memories of when we were organic farmers for a living on Kauai. Here are some pics from today of some of what we have growing and some of what we brought to sell. We have some things protected by hardware cloth (~1/4" wire mesh), and some things in the ground directly (still protected by field fencing and a bit of chicken wire). The picture of the protected raised bed has the door open for harvesting (above). There are all types of hungry critters here, and I'm wondering if or when they'll breach our fencing and discover everything in the ground... hoping that doesn't happen, or at least not too badly for our harvests. đ¤ If it does, we have the two protected beds too, and they've been great. We also have a bunch of things in pots, a few dozen fruit trees in the ground (only a handful are producing so far), grapes, and pecans. Enjoying apples currently.
